AN ORDINANCE .
An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property on

all streets within the district bounded on the north by the north li.=
of Fifth South Street, on the east by the west line of East Temple
( Street, on the south by the center line of Ninth South Street, and on
the west by the west line of Second West Street, in Sewer District No.
2, for the construction of sewers.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby levy the tax and
provide for the assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter
described in Sewer District No. 2, for the construction of sewers,
toMwit:
In Lots 1, 6, 7 and 8, Block 7; 1 and 8, Block 12; 4 and 5, Bloc
4; 1 to 40, inclusive, Block 2, and 1 to 40, inclusive, Block 1,
Walker's Subdivision, Block 6; 1 to 40, inclusive, Block 2, and. 1 to
40, inclusive, Block 1, Walker's Subdivision, Block 5, all in Plat
"A", abutting on the west side of Second West Street between Seventh
South and Ninth South Streets, on the east side of Second West Street
between Eighth South and Ninth South Streets, on both sides of West
Temple Street between Eighth South and Ninth South Streets, on both
sides of Washington Street between Eighth South and Ninth South Streets,
on both sides of First West Street between Eighth South and Ninth
South Streets, and on both sides of Jefferson Street between Eighth
South and Ninth South Streets.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of constructing vitri-
fied pipe sewers eight (8) inches in diameter upon the portions of
said streets opposite the property hereinbefoce and hereinafter des-
cribed to he especially affected and benefited by said irprovement,
and it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that said prop-
erty will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the
tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an
equal and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontag(

upon said portions of said streets fronting upon and to a depth of
twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and
to be assessed upon said parcels of land is ten thousand nine hundred
thirty and 64/100 (010,930.64) dollars; four thousand seven hundred
eighty-eight and 20/100 44,788.20) dollars, or two and
j,4,182,853/10,000,000 (02.4,182,853) dollars per front or linear foot
of abutting property for wewer on both sides of street, there being
1,980 feet of abutting property within the boundaries of the lots,
blocks and streets above mentioned in said district; and. six thousand,
one hundred forty-two and 44/100 (06,142.44) dollars, or one and
i2,091,426/10,000,000 ($1.2091426) dollars per front or linear foot of
abutting property for sewer in center of street, there being 5,080
feet of abutting property within the boundaries of the lots, blocks
land streets above mentionedin said district, which is the total cost

and cost per front foot of said sewer according to the contract en-
tered into for the performance of said work and making said improve-
ment, with James Kennedy, dated July 27, 1907, and the Treasurer is
hereby authorized and directed to assess in accordance with the pro-
visions of this ordinance for the purpose herein mentioned:

SECTIOU 2. Said;;tax,shall,become and be delinquent :En five 'equal
'installments, as foi3 're, to-wit: One-fifth thereof one yeer after
the approval of the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for"the
(;payment for such improvement; one-fifth thereof in two years after
euchaapproval; one-fifth thereof in three years after such approval;
one-fifth thereof in four years after such approval; and one-fifth
therepf in five years after such approval. One or more of said in-
Istallments, or the whole tax may be paid on or before ten days after
the approval of the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax. One or
!more installments, or the whole special tax may be paid on the day an
installment becomes due by paying the amount thereof and interest to
date of payment. Each of said installments shall bear interest at th
rate of six (6) per cent per annum from the date of the approval of
the ordinance confirming the levy of said tax until date of deli.nquen¢y,
,and eight (8) per cent per annum from delinquency until paid.
SECTIOII 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
