Result AN ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING AND BETTING ASIDE a certain
portion of Salt Lake City as a residence district, and preventing
the erection, construction, operation or maintenance of certain
businesses therein.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
SECTION I. That there is hereby designated and set aside
as a residence district, the portion of Salt Lake City contained
and included within the following described boundaries, to-wit:
Commencing at the intersection of the south property
line of 8th South Street and the east property line of 3rd
East Street, and running thence south along the east property .
line of 3rd Nast Street to the north property line of 17th
South Street, thence east along the north property line of
17th South Street to the west property line of 9th East Street,
thence North along the west property line of 9th East Street
to the south property line of 8th South Street, thence west
along the south property line of 8th South Street to the place
of beginning, excluding the following:
Commencing at the intersection of the south property
line of 9th South Street and the east property line of 5th
East Street, thence south along the east property line of
5th East Street to the north property line of 13th South
Street, thence east along the north property line of 13th
South Street to the west property line of 7th East Street,

thence north along the west property line of 7th Bast Street
to the south property line of 9th South Street, thence west
along the south property line of 9th South Street to the
place of beginning;
Being all of Blocks 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, Plat "13",
Salt Lake City Survey and all of Blocks 13, 14, 15, 18 and
20, Five Acre Plat A, Big Field Survey.
SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm,
or corporation to erect, operate or maintain within the district
described in Section I of this ordinance, any merry-go-round,
carrousel, aeroplane or mechanical swing, roller coaster, shoot
the chutes, or other mechanical amusement device, which may inter-f
fere with the safe, healthful or comfortable use of the property
for residential purposes which is included within the district
described in Section I aforesaid.
SECTION 3. It shall be the duty of the Building Inspec -
or to refuse to grant a permit for the erection of any building
or structure to be hereafter erected, which may be designated or
intended to be used for any of the purposes set out in Section
a of this ordinance within the residence district described in
Section 1 of said ordinance.
SECTION 4. Any person violating any of the provisions
of this ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by
a fine in any sum not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100.00), or
by imprisonment in the City Jail for a period not exceeding sixty
(60) days. The court may in imposing a fine, enter as part of th
judgment that in default of payment of the fine, the defendant ma
be imprisoned in the City Jail for a period not exceeding sixty
(60) days.
Each day's operation or maintenance of any of the devices
or structures mentioned in Section 2 of this ordinance shall be
jconstrued to be a separate offense.
SECTION 5. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners

I it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitant
of Salt Lake City that this ordinance shall take effect immediately.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall become effective upon
; its first publication.
