passed by the :Board of Commissioners on .ug. 18, 1921, relating to
the Police .)epartment.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Balt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION I. That Section 1510, Revised Ordinances of Balt
Lake City, Utah, 1920, as amended by an ordinance passed by the Board
of Commissioners on March 7, 1921, as amended by an ordinance passed
by the Board of Commissioners on Aug. 18, 1921, relating, to the Po-
lice .Department, be and the same is hereby amended to read follows:
BEC'TION 1510. QBG JIZ.ATIOJN AND 8BLARIES. The Police
Department of Balt Lake City shall consist of the following thf-
fivors, whose salaries shall be as fixed by the Board of Com-
missioners, within the limits specified:
Chief of Police, who shall be head of the Police
Denartment, not to exceed . . . . . . . . 43600.00
Inspector, with rank of senior captain,:.not to
exceed 2700.00
Chief of Detectives, who shall report directly
to the Chief of Police, not to exceed . . 2700.00
Three captains, each not to exceed 2120.00
Seven sergeants, each not to exceed 1860.00
Superintendent of the Identification Bureau,
not to exceed 2040.00
Secretary to the Chief of Police, not to exceed 1920.00

Patrolmen of the first grade not less than 1740.00
nor more than 2040.00
Patrolmen of the second grade not lees than 1620.00
nor more than 1740.00
Patrolmen of the third grade not less than 1500.00
nor more than 1620.00

Jailers, patrol drivers, motorcycle patrolmen,
mounted policemen; members of the Anti-vice division, proper-
ty clerk, detectives and detective sergeants shall be graded
as patrolmen of the first, second and third grade.
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners,
it is necessary to the health, peace and safety of the inhabitants
of Salt take City that this ordinance become effective immediately
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
first publication.
