An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property o
all streets within the district lying between the center line of Thir
South Street and the center line of Ninth South Street, and the west
line of Third West Street and the Jordan River; and between the south
aide of Second South Street and the center line of Third South Street,
and the west side of Ninth West Street and the Jordan River; also on
both sides of Jefferson Street from Ninth South Street to Mead Avenue,
in Sidewalk Districts Nos 5, 15, 20, 21, 31, 40 and 41, for the don-
struotion of cement sidewalks.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby levy the tax and
(provide for the assessment of the same u....pon the property hereinafter
described in Sidewalk Districts Nos. 5, 16, 20, 21, 31, 40 and 41, fo
the construction of cement sidewalks, to-wit:

This tax is levied to defray the expense of constructing cement
sidewalks upon the property hereinbefore and hereinafter descifibed to
Floe especially affected and benefited by said improvement, and it is
hereby adjudged, determined and established the.t said property wil}rbe
especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby '/
Rlevied, and said parcels of land are hereby' assessed at en equal and

Uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon said
;portions of said streets fronting upon and to a depth of twenty-five
(26) feet bank therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and to be assesse
upon said parcels of land is nineteen thousand one hundred ninety-nin
end 63/100 419,199.63) dollars; ten thousand seven hundred twenty-
five and 81/100 ($10,725.81) dollars, or one and
545686/10,000,000 41.0545686) dollars per front or linear foot of
abutting property for sidewalks six (6) feet wide and four (4) inches
thick, there being 10170.80 feet abutting said portion of said improve-
ment; and eight thousand four hundred seventy-three and 82/100
(#8,473.82) dollars, or 7030457/10,000,000 ( 0.7030457) dollars per
front or linear feet of abutting property for sidewalks four (4) feet

portion of said improvement, which is the total cost and cost per fro
foot of said sidewalks, according to the contract entered into for th
!performance of said work and making said improvement, with James
Kennedy Construotien Company, dated the 12th day of July, 1909, end
the Treasures is hereby authorized and directed to assess in accordance
with the provisions of this ordinance for the purpose herein mentioned

SECTION 2. Said tax shall beoome and be delinquent in five equal.
yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid at the rate
of Six per 'mat per annum, payable at the time each installment is
due, to»wit: One...fifth thereof one year after the approval of the or-
dinanoe confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for such im-
iprovement; ono-fifth thereof in two years after such approval; one-
Jfifth thereof in three years after such approval; ono-fifth thereof
pia fear years after such approval; and one-fifth thereof in five year
after such approval: One or more of said installments, in the order
Tin which they are payable, or the whole epes1a1 tax may be paid at an
time within thirty days after the approval of the ordinance confirmin
;the levy of the tax, without interest. In the event of any install-
sent or the interest aforesaid, not being paid on the date the same
becomes due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the time
'said installme*# and interest are due, shall become due and payable,
and shall draw interest at the rate of eight per cent per annum until
,sale of the property assessed; provided one or more installments, in
;the order in which they are payable, or the whole special tax unpaid
!may be paid on the day any installment becomes due by paying the :;
