AN ORDINANCE Result An ordinance amending Seotion 4 of an ordinance passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, December 2, 1907, and approved by the Mayor Deoemb er 3, 1907, entitled "An ordinance ratifying and confirming the transfer of franchises to the Utah Light and Railway Company, a cor- pox ion, extending The life of said franchises and amending the same, including the franchises to The Utah Power Company", passed by the City Council August 3, 1905, and approved by theiilayor August 4, 1905, by adding a new subdivision to Section 4 to be known as subdivision 30. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of Salt T.ske City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Section 4 of an ordinance passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, December 2, 1907, and approved by the Mayor December 3, 1907, entitled "An ordinance ratifying and confirming the transfer of franchises to the Utah Light and Railway Company, a cor- poration, extending the life of said franchises and amending the same, including the franchises to the Utah Power Company", passed by the City Council August 3, 1905, and approved by the Mayor August 4, 1905, be and the same is hereby amended by inserting after subdivision 29 the following: 30. A single track standard gauge railroad beginning on Second North Street at the west line of Wall Street and connecting with the grantee's street railway line as now constructed at or near that point, running thence easterly to West Canyon Street, thence northerly along the west side of West Canyon Street adjacent j to the east side of the Capitol Grounds to Fourth North Street, thence west on Fourth North Street to De Soto Street, as shown in yellow upon the blue print map hereto annexed and made a part of P , 1 this franchise, together with such switches and cross-over tracks as are shown in yellow upon said blue print map. SECTION 2. That said grantee (now the Utah Light and Traction Company, by virtue of an ordinance passed by the Board of Commission- ers December 21, 1914), its successors and assigns shall construct and complete the tracks herein authorized up to a point approximately 200 feet north of a line drawn directly east of the northeast corner of the Main Capitol Building, on or before March 1, 1916, and from that point to Fourth North Street on or before October 1, 1916, and from said Fourth North Street to De Soto Street within sixty days after the date of the establishment and completion. by the City of the per- eoanent grade on said Fourth North Street. In the event of the failure of said grantee to have oompleted the said tracks on said streets with- in the time mentioned, then as to said streets not so occupied at the expiration of said periods herein provided, this franchise and all the provisions thereof shall be null and void. SECTION 3. The provisions of an ordinance ratifying and con- firming the transfer by the Utah Light and Railway Company to the Utah Light and Traction Company, its successors and assigns of its rights, privileges and franchises covered by certain ordinances of Salt Lake City, amending said ordinances and reordaining the same as so emended, passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City December 21, 1914, and especially those provisions relating to the issuance of commutation tickets and tickets to students of public schools and trans- fer privileges on account of such tickets, and as to the free passage of City policemen and firemen in uniform, and the payment of $25.00 per car per annum for the average number of motor cars operated upon its lines, are hereby made a part of this franchise and ordinance. SECTION 4. This franchise shall extend until the 1st day of July, 1955, and the rights hereby granted shall be subject to the con- ditions of the ordinance of which it is an amendment the same as though ;I -2- the grants herein contained had been inserted in and constituted part of this ordinance. SECTION 6. Said grantee shall, within thirty days after the approval of this ordinance, file its acceptance hereto in writing with the City Recorder of ualt Lake City, otherwise the sane shall be null and void. SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first publication.
