AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING AND SETTING ASIDE a certain
portion of Salt Lake City as a residence district, and preventing
the erection, construction, operation or maintenance of certain
businesses therein.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
SECTION I. That there is hereby designated and set aside
as a residence district the portion of Salt Lake City contained
and included within the following described boundaries, to-wit:
Commencing at a point on the north property line of 17th
South Street, 100 ft.east of 13th East Street, and running
thence east along the north property line of 17th South St.
to the east city limits at 17th East Street, thence following
the easterly city limits to the west property line of 19th
Last Street, thence north along the west property line of
19th East Street to the south property line of the Port Doug-
las Military Reservation, thence west along the south line of
said Military Reservation to the southwest corner thereof,
thence north along the west line of the Fort Douglas Military
Reservation 286.99 ft. to the north line of Block 7, Douglas
Park Subdivision, thence S. 89` 57' 20" 'vv. 177.78 ft., thence
south along the west line of Douglas Park Subdivision 1173.58
ft. to the south property line of Michigan Ave.; thence west
along the south property line of Michigan Ave. 64.93 ft. to

ft. along a line 100 ft. east of the east property line of
13th East Street to the place of beginning, except the fol-
lowing tracts of land, - Lots 49 to 58 inclusive of Block 4,

also Lot 46, College Heights Second Addition, of Block 11,
Five Acre Plat "C", Big Field Survey, also Lots 26 to 30

SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm oil
corporation to erect, operate or maintain within the district de- i

(pair shop, gasoline service station, dairy, milk depot, lumber
yard, market store or place for the sale of meats, poultry, fish,
libutter, cheese, lard, vegetables and all other provisions, or to
erect, operate or maintain any other business, industry or estab-
lishment which may interfere with the safe, healthful or comfort
;able use of the property for residential purposes, which is in-
!cluded within the district described in Section I aforesaid.
SECTION 3. It shall be the duty of the Building Inspect-

a fine in any sum not exceeding one hundred dollars 0100.00) or

I (60) days. The court may, in imposing a fine, enter as part of
the judgment that in default of payment of the fine, the defendant{
may be imprisoned in the City Jail for a period not exceeding
Isixty (60) days.

Each day's operation or maintenance of any of the plant
or business mentioned in Section 2 of this ordinance shall be con-
strued to be a separate offense.
SECTION 5. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners,
Iit is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants
jof Salt Lake City that this ordinance shall take effect immediate-
ly.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall become effective upon
