(Repeal of Massage Parlors in
Business "B-3" Districts)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 51-21-1 OF THE REVISED
ORDINANCES OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 1965 AS AMENDED, BY REPEALING
SUBPARAGRAPH (7) PERMITTING MASSAGE PARLORS IN BUSINESS "B-3"
DISTRICTS.
WHEREAS, it has been the recommendation of the Planning
Commission that massage parlors, which are currently permitted
uses in the Business "B-3" districts, provided that said busi-
nesses do not cater exclusively to adults to the exclusion of
minors, are inappropriate uses in a neighborhood Business "B-3"
zoning classification; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation that such uses are more
appropriately located within the general Commercial "C-3"
districts; and
WHEREAS, to accomplish the implementation of the recom-
mendation, it would require the repeal of Section 51-21-1(7) ;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
Section 1. That Section 51-21-1(7) of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965 as amended, relating to permitted
uses in Business "B-3" districts, be, and the same hereby is,
amended by REPEALING Subsection (7) relating to and permitting
massage parlors in said districts, which section shall read as
follows:
Sec. 51-21-1. Use Regulations. In a Business "B-3"
district no building or premises shall be used and no building
shall be erected which is arranged, intended or designed to be
used for other than one or more of the following uses:
(1) Any use permitted in a Residential "R-7".

SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30)
days from the date of its first publication.
Passed by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
10th day of March , 1981.
