AN ORDINANCE .
An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property on
( West Temple Street between Fifth South and Ninth South Streets; and
on Fifth South Street between Main and First West Streets, in Paving
District No. 28, for the purpose of providing for the grading, gutter-
ing and curbing, and paving thereof.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the City Council does hereby levy the tax and
provide for the assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter
described in Paving District No. 28, for the purpose of providing for
the grading, guttering and curbing, and paving of a portion of said
district, to-wit:
In Lots 4 and 5, Block 22; 2, 3, 4 and 5, Block 15; and 16 to 20,
inclusive, Walker's Subdivision, Block 4, Plat "A", abutting on the
east aide of West Temple Street between Sixth South and Ninth South
Streets.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of grading, guttering
and curbing with cement, and paving with asphalt (said asphalt pave-
ment to be eighty (80) feet wide between curbs, and nine and 1/2
(9-1/2) inches thick, between Fifth South and Seventh South Streets,
and seventy-two feet wide between curbs and nine and 1/2 (9-1/2) inch s
thick between Seventh South and Ninth South Streets), the portions o
said street opposite the property hereinbefore and hereinafter des-
cribed to be especially affected and benefited by said improvement,
and it is hereby adjudged, determined and established. that said prop-
erty will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the
tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at
equal and uniform sate in accordance with the linear foot frontage
upon said portions of said street fronting upon and to a depth of
twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom, and the tsx hereby levied and
to be assessed upon said parcels of land is nineteen thousand four
hundred forty-two and 38/100 (419,442.38) dollars; six thousand se7e1

eighty-six and 94/100 ( 6,786.94) dollars, or ten and 283235/1,000,00
(410.28.3235) dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property fo
roadway 80 feet wide, there being 660 feet of abutting property withi
the boundaries of the lots, block and street above mentioned in said
district; and twelve thousand six hundred fifty-five and 44/100
($12,655.44) dollars, or nine and 587455/1,000,000 (49..587,.125) dolla a
per front or linear foot of abutting property for roadway 72 feet wid ,
there being 1320 feet of abutting property within the boundaries of
the lots, blocks and street above mentioned in said district, which i=
the total cost and oost per front foot of said pavement according to
the oontraot •ntered into for the performance of said work and making
said improvement, with P. J. Morran, dated the 16th day of August,1909
and the Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to assess in ac-
cordance with the provisions of this ordinance for the purpose herein
mention ed:
Eighty Foot Roadway.
The west aide of Lots 4 and 5, Block 22, Plat "A".
Seventy-two Foot Roadway.
The west side of Lots 2, 3, 4 and 5, Block 15; and the west side
of Lots 16 to 20, inclusive, Walker's Subdivision, Block 4, Plat "A",
Salt Lake City Survey, as the same are shun upon the official plats
of said city to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back from said stree ,
and to collect said tax.
SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in ten equal
installments, as folliwa, to•.wit: One-tenth thereof one year after
the approval of the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the
payment for such improvement; one-tenth thereof in two years after
such approval; one-tenth thereof in three year„ after such approval;
one-tenth thereof in four years after such approval; one-tenth there-
of in five years after such approval; one-tenth thereof in six years
after such approval; one-tenth thereof in seven years after such ap-
proval; one-tenth thereof in eight years after such approval; one,,~%y

tenth thereof in nine years after such approval; and, one-tenth there-
of
in ten years after such approval. One or more of said instalment
or the whole tax may be paid on tint or before ten days after the ap-
proval of the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax. One or more
installments, or the whole special tax may be paid, on the day any in-
stailment
becomes due by paying the amount thereof and interest to
date of payment. Eae.Vi of said installments shall bear interest at
the. rate of six (6) Or dent per annum from the data of the approval
of the ordinancy confirming the levy of said tax until the date of
clerinqe-ancy, and eight (0) Per 044t per annum from delinquoney until
paid.
