HomeMy WebLinkAbout2 of 1917 - Paving Extension No. 126, Second Partial Estimate Federal Freights Subdivision, fort Douglas Military Reservation; 7 to 12, inclusive, Block 7; 1 to 6, inclusive, Block 8, Popperton Place Subdivision, Section 33, Township 1 north, Range 1 east, Salt Lake Base and Meridian; 3 and 6, Block 33, Plat "F", Salt Lake City Survey, abutting on both sides of Laurel Street between Perry and Second Avenues; pa both sides of Perry Avenue between Virginia Street and Wolcott Avenue; on both sides of Sigsbee Avenue between South Temple Street and '; olcott Avenue; un both sides of Federal ;lay between South Temple Street and the Military Reservation line; on both sides of Butler Avenue between University and First South Streets; on. both sides of University Street between South Temple and First South Streets; on both. sides of :iolcott Avenue between the north line of Federal Heights and First South Street; and on both sides of South Temple Street between University Street and Wolcott Avenue. This tax is levied to defray the expense of grading, curbing and guttering with cement, where curb and gutter have not already been constructed, constructing private driveways, installing water services and sewer connections, constructing drainage system to carry water along and across streets and intersections, of vitrified and concrete pipe twelve (12) inches in diameter, and paving with bitulith.ic pavement University Street and all streets in Federal heights, including Laurel Street to Second Avenue (said pavement to be thirty (30) feet between curbs on Laurel Street, Perry, Sigsbee and Butler Avenues and Federal Bay; thirty-five (35) feet between curbs on University Street between South Temple and First South Streets; thirty-nine (39) feet between curbs on Wolcott Avenue; and forty-four (44) feet between curbs on South Temple Street, and all of said pavement to be six (6) inches thick, with four (4) inch bituminous macadam base and two (2) inch wearing surface of bitulithic) , the portions of said streets opposite the , property hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especially -2- affected and benefited by said improvement, and it is hereby adjudged, determined and established that said property will be especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon said portions of said streets fronting upon and- to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is fifty-nine thousand sixty-two and 93/100 059,062.93) dollars; twenty-eight thousand one hundred nineteen and 57/100 ( 28,119.57) dollars, or four and 15/100 04.15) dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property for said thirty foot roadway, there being 6775.80 feet abutting said portion of said improvement; thirty-one hundred eighteen and 12/100 (s3118.12) dollars, or four and 70/100 04.70) dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property for said thirty-five foot roadway, there being 663.43 feet abutting said portion of said improvement; thirty-seven hundred twenty-nine 03729.00) dollars, or five and 66/100 05.65) dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property for said thirty-five foot roadway (curb and gutter to be built) , there being 660 feet abut- ting said portion of said improvement; thirteen thousand three hundred forty-six and 21/100 013,346.21) dollars, or five and 34/100 05.34) dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property for said thirty-nine foot roadway, trere being 2499.29 feet abutting said portion of said improvement; ninety-one hundred fifty-six and 83/100 G9156.03) dollars, or six and 10/100 ( j6.10) dollars per front or linear fooi-, of abutting property for said forty-four foot roadway, there being 1501.12 feet abutting said portion of said improvement; three hundred ninety (Sa390.00) dollars for private driveways, or thirty 030.00) dollars for each private driveway, there being thirteen private driveways; nine hundred seventy-two (072.00) dollars for water cervices, or twelve ( 12.!i0) -3- dollars Tor each water connection, there being eighty-one water ' amnxuat±mix services; and tiro hundred thirty-one and 20/100 231.20) dollars for sewer connections, or thirteen and 60/100 03.60) dollars for each,. sewer .connection, .there being seventeen sewer connections, the cost of the construction and installation of which and the property benefited thereby is hereinafter set out, and all within the bou:ivarieo of the lots, blocks and streets above mentioned in said district4,which is the total cost and cost per front foot of said improvement, according to the contract entered into with Strange-Iaguire Paving Company, dated the llth day of July, 1916, and the Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to assess, in accordance w_h the Drovicions of this ordinance, for the purpose herein mentioned: ThirtH Foot Roadwal. SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in ten equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable at the time each installment is due, to-,wit: One-tenth thereof one year after the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for such improvement becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in two years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in three years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth thereof ix four years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth there- of in rive years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tent thereof in six years after said ordinance becomes effective; one- tenth thereof in seven years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in eight years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in nine years after said ordinance becomes effective; and one-tenth thereof in ten years after said ordinance becomes effective. One or more of said installments, i the order in which they are payable, or the whole special tax, ma be paid at any time within thirty days after the ordinance con- firming the levy of the tax becomes effective, without interest. In the event of any installment or the interest aforesaid not being paid on the date the sane. becomes due, the whole amount of the special tax unpaid at the time said installment and interest are d.ue, shall become due and payable, and shall draw interest at the rate of eight per cent per annum until the sale of the propertk assessed; provided, one or more installments, in the order in which they are payable, or the whole special tax unpaid, may be paid on the day any installment becomes due, by paying the amount -8- thereof and interest to said date.
