AN ORDINANCE.

IN ORDINANCE j`IENDIUG Section 1090, Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1920, relating to employment agents.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
Section 1. That Section 1090, Revised Ordinances of Salt
Lake City, Utah, 1920, relating to employment agents, be and the
same is hereby amended to read as follotw:
SECTION 1090, MUST. OBTAIN LICENSE. 1MPLOY ENT AGENT
DEFINED. It shall be unlawful for any person to open, estab-
lish or operate within Salt Lake City, any employment office,
for the purpose of procuring or obtaining, for money or other
valuable consideration, either directly or indirectly, any
work, employment or occupation for persons seekium the same,
or otherwise to engage in the business, or in any way to act
as a broker or go-between between employers and persons seek-
ing work, without first having obtained a license so to do.
Any person performing any of the foregoing enumerated services
as aforesaid shall he deemed to he an employment agent within
the meaning of this act. rovided, however, that no license
shall be granted to any person, firm or corporation to conduct
the business of an employment agent within the State of Utah,
to be exercised in any room or rooms or in connection with
any room or rooms used as a living or sleeping place by any
family, or in which sleeping rooms are rented or in which
meals are served to the public, or in which soft drinks are

sold or persons are permitted to play cards, pool, billiards
or other games, and that if, during the period for which a
license has been issue?, the room or rooms in which the busi-
ness of employment a;enoy is carried on or rooms in connection
therewith are.used for any of the purposes above mentioned,
said license shall be revoked.
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioner ,
, it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants
of Salt Lake City that this ordinance lieoome eff Ctive immediately.
SECTION 3. 'Th;io ordinance shall take .'effect upon its pub+-
lication.
