AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 27-3-2 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, 1955, by changing the membership
of the Shade Tree Commission from five (5) to seven (7).
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah.
SECTION 1. That Section 27-3-2 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, be and the same is hereby amended by adding two (2)
additional representive citizen members to the board, which section
as amended shall read as follows:
"Sec. 27-3-2. Organization, membership,
vacancies. The $oard of Commissioners shall appoint
a shade tree commission to be known as the Salt Lake
City Shade -free commission, consid=ing of seven (7)
members, one of whom shall be ex-officio, the City
fgngineer, and the other six (6) shall be representa-
tive citizens interested in the subject of tree
culture, who shall be appointed for a term of five

years. Any vacancy may be filled for the unexpired
term only. The members of the Salt Lake City 5hade
/free Commission shall serve without pay. The
Commission shall select a chairman, who shall serve
for a term of five years.t
"The shade free Commission shall recommend
to the $oard of city Commissioners the appointment
and employment of such officers and employees as may
be necessary to carry on the work of the$hade.4ree
toepartment and the board of City Commissioners may
appoint and employ such officers and employees at

such salaries as it may designate."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners,
it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of
Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
first publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah
this 13th day of January , 1959
