An ordinance amending Section 960 in Chapter 41 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1913, as amended by an ordinance
passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, August 7,
1916, relating to the Police Department.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 960 in Chapter 41 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1913, as amended by an ordinance
passed by the Board of Commissioners August 7, 1916, relating to
the Police Department, be, and the same is hereby amended so as to
read as follows:
SECTION 960. SALARIES. The officers, employees, men and
agents of the police department shall receive yearly salaries
payable monthly, in the amounts not exceeding the following:
Chief of Police *3,000.00
Inspector '2,000.00
Chief of Detectives -2,000.00
Captain 1,560.00
Junior Captain 1,560.00
Lieutenant 1,500.00
Secretary to Chief 1,500.00
Duty Sergeants, each 1,380.00
Patrolmen in Detective Service, not to
exceed four, each 1,600.00
Patrolmen in Detective Service, not to
exceed six, each 1,320.00
Fireman and Janitor 900.00
Matron 480.00
Patrolmen of the first grade, each 1,200.00
Patrolmen of the second grade, each 1,080.00
Patrolmen of the third grade, each 960.00

Jailers, patrol drivers, motorcycle policemen, mounted
policemen and desk sergeants shall be graded as patrolmen of
the first, second and third grades. 1
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first

publication.
