Result AN ORDINANCE
An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment of property
on State Street between Tenth South and Eleventh South Streets, in
Paving District No. 32, for the purpose of providing for the grading,
guttering and curbing, constructing drainage and irrigation systems,
constructing conduit for Parley's Creek at Tenth South Street, and
paving said State Street.
Be it ordained by-the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City
does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same
upon the property hereinafter described in Paving District No. 32,
for the purpose of providing for the grading, guttering and curbing,
constructing drainage and irrigation systems, constructing conduit
for Parley's Creek at Tenth South Street, and paving thereof, tmax
to wit:
In Lots 2 to 24, inclusive, Block 2, Nye's Addition, Block 12;
2 to 11, inclusive, Block 6; 2 to 21, inclusive, Block 5; 2 to 11,
inclusive, Block 4; Capitol Avenue Addition, Block 12; 6 to 16, in-
3, 4 end 9, Block 12;
elusive, Block 2, South Capitol Avenue Addition, Block 12. /1 to 16,
inclusive, Montana Subdivision, Block 11; 1, and 29 to 54, inclusive,
Blook 1, South Main Street Addition Plat "A", Block 11; 1, and 7 to
10, inclusive, Block 1, Gabbott's Addition, Block 11; 1, and 12 to
20, inclusive, Block 1, Dieter & Johnson Main Street Addition, Blook

"A", Big Field Survey, abutting on both sides of State Street be-

This tax is levied to defray the expense of grading, gutter- I
ing end curbing with cement, constructing drainage and irrigation ;
systems of cement, vitrified, corrugated iron and wrought iron
pipe, building concrete conduit for Parley's Creek at Tenth South
Street, and paving with Utah rook asphalt a roadway sixty (60) feSt
wide between curbs and nine (9) inches thick (said pavement to con-
sist of six (6) inch base, one (1) inch binder, and two (2) inch
topping), the portion of said State Street opposite the property 1

hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especially affected
and benefited by said improvement, and it is hereby adjudged,
determined and established that said property will be especially
benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby levied, an&
said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform
rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon said portio4
of said street fronting upon and to a depth of twenty-five (25)
feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed
upon said parcels of land is forty-two thousand eight hundred
nineteen and 12/100 ( 42,819.12) dollars, or eight ( 8.00) dollar
per front or linear foot of abutting property for sixty fit foot
roadway, there being 5352.39 feet of abutting property within the]
boundaries of the lots, blocks and street above mentioned in said
district, which is the total cost end cost per front foot of said;
improvement, according to the contract entered into for the per-
formance
of said work and making said improvement, with J. T.
Mellen, Contractor, dated the 14th day of May, 1914, and the
Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to assess, in accor- '
dance with the provisions of this ordinance, for the purpose

SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in ten
equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid
at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable at the time each
installment is due, to-wit: One-tenth thereof one year after the
ordinance oonfirming the levy of the tax for the payment for such

improvement becomes effective; one-tenth thereof in two years
after said ordinance beoomes effective; one-tenth thereof in three
years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth thereof 19
four years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tenth therI-
of in five years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-tent

thereof in six years after said ordinance becomes effective; one-
tenth thereof in seven years after said ordinance becomes effeot-
ive; one tenth thereof in eight years after said ordinance becomes
effective; one-tenth thereof in nine years after said ordinance
becomes effective; and one-tenth thereof in ten years after said
ordinance becomes effective. One or more of said installments, 1
the order in which they are payable, or the whole special tax, ma
be paid at any time within thirty days after the ordinance confi
ing the levy of the tax becomes effeotive, without interest. In
the event of any installment, or the interest aforesaid not being
paid on the date the same becomes due, the whole amount of the
special tax unpaid at the time said installment and interest are
due, shall become due and payable, and shall draw interest at the
rate of eight per cent per annum until the sale of the property
assessed; provided, one or more installments, in the order in whiol.
they are payable, or the whole special tax unpaid, may be paid on
the day any installment becomes due, by paying the amount thereof
and interest to said date.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect one day after
its first publication.
