Result AN ORDINANCE
An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment
of property on Garfield Avenue between Fifteenth East and
Sixteenth East Streets, in Sewer District No. 1 (Sewer Ex-
tension No. 384), for the construction of a sewer.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION I. That the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City does hereby levy the tax and provide for the
assessment of the same upon the property hereinafter described
in Sewer District No. 1 (Sewer Extension No. 384), for the
construction of a sewer, to-wit:
In Lots 3 to 23, inclusive, Block 1; and 1, and
39 to 58, inclusive, Block 2, Progress Heights Second Addition,
Block 9, Five Acre Flat "C", Big Field Survey, abutting on
both sides of Garfield Avenue between Fifteenth East and
Sixteenth East Streets.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of con-
structing a vitrified pipe sewer eight (8) inches in diameter
upon the portions of said street opposite the property here-
inbefore and hereinafter described to be especially affected
and benefited by said improvement, and it is hereby adjudged,
determined and established that said property will be

especially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereb
levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal,
and uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage
upon said portions of said street fronting upon and to a depth
of fifty (60) feet back therefrom, and the tax hereby levied and
to be assessed upon said parcels of land is two thousand three
hundred twenty-nine and 050100 ($2,329.05) dollars, or one and
seven hundred forty-two thousandths ($1.742) dollars per front
of linear foot of abutting property, there being 1337 feet of
abutting property within the boundaries of the lots, blocks and
streets above mentioned in said district, which is the total
cost and cost per front foot of said sewer, according to the aon�-
tract entered into for the performance of said work and making
said improvement, with Mullins & Palm, dated the 11th day of June,
1919, and the Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to
assess, in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance, for
the purpose herein mentioned:
The north side of the east 65 feet of Lot 3, and the
North side of Lots 4 to 23, inclusive, Block 1; the south side
of the east 65 feet of Lot 1, and the south side of Lots 39 to
58, inclusive, Block 2, Progress Heights Second Addition, Block
9, Five Acre Plat "0", Big Pield Survey, as the same are shown
upon the official plats of said city to a depth of fifty (50)
feet back from said street, and to collect said tax.
SECTION II. Said tax shall become and be delinquent
in five equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole
sum unpaid at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable at the

time •each installment is due, to-wit: One-fifth thereof one
year after the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax for the
payment for such improvement becomes effective; one-fifth
thereof in two years after said ordinance becomes effective;

one-fifth thereof in three years after said ordinance becomes
effective; one-fifth thereof in four years after said ordinance
becomes effective; and one-fifth thereof in five years after
said ordinance becomes effective. One or more of said install-
manta, in the order in which they are payable, or the whole
special tax, may be paid at any time within thirty days after
the ordinance confirming the levy of the tax becomes effective,
without interest. In the event of any irm tallmcnt or the inter-I
eat aforesaid not being paid on the day the same becomea due, the

ment and interest are due, shall become due and payable, and
Shall draw interest at the rate of eight per cant per annum until
the sale of the property assessed; provided, one or more install,*

special tax unpaid, may be paid on the day any installment beoom

SECTION III. This ordinance shall take effect one day
after its first publication.
