An Ordinance prescribing the form of water scrip, and direct-
ing the City Treasurer to receive the same in payment of water
rates under certain restrictions.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
Section 1. In all cases where the City Treasurer is author-
ized and directed by the City Council by ordinance or resolution to
issue water scrip upon the payment of special taxes for the improve-
ment or extension of the waterworks system of Salt Lake City, or
upon the payment of any sum or sums of money to the City Treasurer
for such improvement or extension; the City Treasurer is authorized
and directed to issue said water scrip to the person or persons
making such payments in such amounts, not exceeding the whole amount
of such payments, as the persons making said payment may desire.
Section 2. Water scrip shall be in the form of a certificate
signed by the City Treasurer, and shall show on its face, the amount
for which the scrip is issued, the date of issuance, the person to
whom issued and shall contain a brief description of the property
upon which the special tax or other payment is made. It shall also

state tAhat such scrip will be received for the payment of water
rates for water used upon the premises described therein; provided,
that after !I years from the date of issuance, such scrip will
be received in payment of water rates for water used on any property
within the corporate limits of Salt Lake City.
Section 3. Water scrip issued as provided in this ordinance
shall be received by the City Treasurer in payment of water rates
for water used on the premises described therein, provided, that
after tie years from the date of issuance thereof, he shall re-
ceive such scrip in payment of water rates for water used on any
property within the corporate limits of Salt Lake City. Such water
scrip shall draw no interest and shall not be received in payment of
any fine, toll, tax, fee, assessment or debt due Salt Lake City
except as in this ordinance provided.

Section 4. All ordinances and parts of ordinances inconsistent
herewith, and particularly Section four (4) of an ordinance abol-
ishing the office of Assessor and Collector of water rates and
providing for the assessment and collection of the same passed by
the City Council March 27th, 1894,and which became a law without
the signature of the Mayor, and an ordinance entitled "An ordinance
( authorizing the City Treasurer to issu$ Water scrip upon the pay-
,merit`of.assessments'for. improvepienta,: n& ,extensi.on of the;water
. works system, and directing the City Treasurer to receive said
scrip id payment of water rates in cert4n cases" passed by the
