Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah:. SECTION 1. That Section 1488, of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1934, relating to water works, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: SEC. 1488. METER DEPOSITS AND AGREEMENTS. Water takers, who are not the owners of the premises on which metered water service is being supplied, shall pay to the water department, for deposit with the city treasurer, an amount sufficient to cover the cost of water rates which may accumulate. The amount deposited shall be not less than twice any monthly or quarter- ly bill for water consumed over the preceding year on such premises, but in no case shall it be less than #10.00. The water department shall issue a certificate of deposit. The amount deposited shall be refunded by the city treasurer to the holder upon the surrender of the certificate properly endorsed, provided all water bills and other charges are paid. All bills for water rates must be paid promptly without reference to said deposit. Whenever any consumer of water shall have failed to pay for water supplied or services rendered to such premises, the money deposited, or any part thereof, may by the board of commissioners be applied to the payment of such delinquent bills. Where water consumers are not the actual owners but are merely buying under contract or bond for deed, or in case of building contractors applying for new water service, claim- ing to be owners of said property, the superintendent of water c�c) f1f� -2- q I' works shall require regular deposits.
