AN ORDINANCE
Result
An ordinance amending Section 1330 of Chapter 61 of the
Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1913, as amended by an
ordinance
/passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City July
30, 1917; and Section 1376 of said chapter. as amended by an
ordinance passed by the Board of Commissioners May 22, 1917,
relating to water rates.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 1330 of Chapter 61 of the
Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1913, as amended by an
ordinance passed by the Board of Commissioners July 30, 1917,
be, and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows:
SECTION 1330. EMPLOYEES. CO!APENSATION. The Board
of Commissioners may appoint and employ in the Depart-
ment of Water Supply and Waterworks, the following
assistants, clerks and employees:
One chief clerk at a salary not exceeding 01500.00
per annum, who shall, before assuming the duties of his
office, take and subscribe the constitutional oath of
office, and shall give a bond to Salt Lake City in the
sum of y 1,000.00, conditioned as required by law; one
assessor at a salary not exceeding 42,100.00 per annum,
who shall, before assuming the duties of his office,

take and subscribe the constitutional oath of office, and
shall give a bond to Salt Lake City in the sum of 5,000.00,
conditioned as required by law; and such stenographers,
clerks, foremen, pipemen, motormen, machinists, blacksmiths
and employees as may be necessary for the proper conduct
of such department, at such compensation as may be deter-
mined by the Board of Commissioners.
SECTION 2. That Section 1376 of Chapter 61 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1913, as amended by an ordinance
passed by the Board of Commissioners May 22, 1917, relating to
water rates, be, and the same is hereby amended so as to read
as follows:
SECTION 1376. WATER RATES PAID IN ADVANCE. The annual
rates for a supply of water from Salt Lake City waterworks
to be paid annually in advance, are hereby fixed and estab-
lished as follows, to-wit:
Churches not using hydraulic power--For toilets,
urinals and lawns, same as dwelling rates.
Hose connections for sprinkling garden, lawns and
other purposes, fifty square yards or less, 1.50, and for
each additional yard, 3 cents.
For washing each private vehicle P 1.00
For each animal on premises 1.00
Private dwelling occupied by one family - - -
(five rooms or less) 4.00
Each additional room .75
Each additional family 3.00
Each bath tub 1.00
Each toilet 2.00
Public schools, each 50.00
For all other purposes water shall be measured by
meter and paid for at meter rates.
Whenever water meter is installed, the cost of instal-
lation shall be paid by the water user as follows:
For installation at curb line for sizes 8.00
up to and including 1 inch
Fpr installation in basement for sizes
up to and including 1 inch 2.00

An allowance may be made of two thousand cubic feet
for every one hundred yards for parking between property
line and curb line on all metered premises for each quarter
of the summer or sprinkling season; provided, however, that
the minimum charge of 50 cents per month must be paid, and
no more than two such credits shall be allowed in each
calendar year; and provided further, that such credits
shall not be allowed where such parking is not properly
maintained.
Any contractor or person engaged in construction work
or repairs of any nature requiring the use of water, shall
apply to the department of water supply and waterworks for
a meter to be placed, for either temporary or permanent
consumption of water, and deposit a sum of money sufficient
to cover the cost incident to the placing of such meter.
Where a building is to be erected, application shall
be made for service pipe in the regular manner, and all
water consumed in the construction of such building shall
be paid for at regular meter rates. It shall be unlawful
for any contractor or other person engaged in construction
work to use water from the city water mains, except through
a meter, as provided in this section.
It shall be unlawful for any person to deface, injure
or destroy any drinking fountain, water trough, pipe, valve,
or appurtenance connected with the water system of Salt
Lake City.
SECTION 3, This ontdinance shall take effect thirty-one
days after its passage.
