Green Neslen Mr. Chairman Result • ORDINANCE NO. 24 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 5 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED, 'AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AND ORDERING A SPECIAL, ELECTION AND SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED TAX-PAYING ELECTORS OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, AT SUCH SPECIAL ELECTION, THE QUESTION OF INCURRING A BONDED IN- DEBTEDNESS IN THE AGGREGATE SUM OF THREE MILLION THREW HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS, ($;,300,000.) AND ISSUING NEGOTIABLE COUPON BONDS THEREFOR, FOR THE PURPOSE OF INCREASING, IMPROVING, ENLARGING, EX- TENDING, PERFECTING AND ADDING TO THE PRESENT WATER SUPPLY AND WATERWORKS SYSTEM OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, AND OF:SUPPLYING AND DISTRIBUTING WATER TO THE IN- HABITANTS OF SAID CITY, BY ACQUIRING BY PURCHASE, EXCHANGE OR OTHERWISE, WATER AND WATER RIGHTS AND BY CONSTRUCTING DAMS AND STORAGE RESERVOIRS, CONDUITS AND DISTRIBUTING MAINS, THE SAID WATER, WATER RIGHTS AND WATERWORKS TO BE OWNED AND CONTROLLED BY SAID CITY,' DULY PASSED AND APPROVED THE 26thDAY OF FEBRUARY, A. D. 1920, AND IN EFFECT THE 27thDAY OF February A. D.1920. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF SALT LAKE CITY, OF THE COUNTY OF SALT LAKE, AND THE STATE OF UTAH: 1 Section 1. That Section 5 of an ordinance entitled, "An ordinance providing for and ordering a special election and submitting to the qualified tax-paying electors of Salt Lake City, Utah, at such special election, the question of incurring a bonded indebt- edness in the aggregate sum of Three Million Three Hundred Thousand Dollars, ($3,300,000.) and issuing negotiable coupon bonds therefor, for the purpose of increasing, improving, enlarging, extending, per- • . The ballots to be used in voting upon the question above submitted shall be prepared and furnished by the City Recorder to the judges of election, to be by them furnished to the voters, and shall be in substantially the following printed form: -4- SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH. SPECIAL WATER BOND ELECTION. MARCH 31, _,1920. OFFICIAL BALLOT Question Submitted: "Shall Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, create an indebtedness by issuing its negotiable coupon bonds in the aggregate amount of Three Million Three Hundred Thousand Dollars (03,300,000.) absolutely due and pay- able twenty years from their date and bearing interest at the rate of five per centum (5%) per annum, payable semi-annually for the purpose of supplying said city and inhabitants thereof with additional water, the said additional water, water rights and the waterworks for supplying such water to be owned and controlled by the said municipality?" YES . FOR THE ISSUE OF BONDS: NO (Each voter shall prepare his ballot by marking a cross (X) in the square opposite the word "Yea" or "No" which expresses his ans- wer to the question submitted, and shall then deposit hie ballot in the ballot box provided for such purpose.) On the reverse side of said ballots there should be the form: "Official ballot for Districts Nos. (Designation of district of policital division), Salt Lake City, March al,st ,192O. W. A. LEATRAM, .(fac simile signature of Recorder) City Recorder". Said ballots to be perforated and the stubs numbered consecutively, as provided by law. • � I \ -5- Section 2. An election has heretofore been called on the question of issuing bonds to obtain additional water supply for the City of Salt Lake, and in the opinion of the Board of Commissioners itis therefore necessary for the health, peace and safety of said city • that this ordinance become operative immediately so that the election so called may be held on the date specified. Consequently an emergency is hereby declared, and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its publication. Section 3. This ordinance, immediately upon its passage, shall be recorded in the book of ordinances of said city kept for that purpose, authenticated and approved by the Mayor, attested by the City Recorder, and shall be published in the Salt Lake Herald, official news- paper published in Salt Lake City, and shall t e effect and be in force immediately upon such publication.
