AN ORDINANCE AMEND SECTION 3614 of Chapter XXXV of
the Revised Ordinances of: al Lake City, Utah, 1944, as amended
by an ordinance passed by the Board of Commissioners on December
18, 1946, relating to licenses, and amending Section 6114 of Chap-
ter LIX of the Revised Ordinate es of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944,
relating to traffic..,.an 'travel on streets.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION I. That Section 3614 of Chapter XXXV of the Re-
vised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, as amended by an
ordinance passed by the Board of Commissioners on December 18,1946,
relating to licenses, be and the same is hereby further amended to
read as follows:
"SEC. 3614. AUTO LIVERY. (a) It shall be unlawful for
any person to engage in the business of keeping an auto
livery within the limits of Salt Lake City without first
obtaining a license so to do. The license fee payable under
this section shall be $15.00 for each automobile so kept in
such establishment.
(b), For the purpose of this section an auto livery shall
be defined and deemed to be any place or establishment where
one or more automobiles are kept for rent or public hire with
or without ardriver.
(c) It shall be unlawful for any person or establishment
licensed as an auto livery to use or permit the use of any
motor vehicle employed in such business or the driver of such
automobile so employed to such business to use any such motor
vehicle as a taxicab, as in these ordinances provided, or en-

gage in other than chartered trips either with or withouta
driver.
(d) The owner or operator of an auto livery shall keep a
record of trips made, as provided in Section 6114 of these
ordinances as a;ended, showing a record of each trip as there-
in provided, and also a record showing the name, age, address
and occupation of each person to whom any motor vehicle is
rented or hired out without a driver, together with the date
and hour said rental is commenced and the date and hour said
rental terminated.
(e) The keeper of an auto livery shall apply for such li-
cense to the license assessor and collector of Salt Lake City,
making a statement under oath of the number of automobiles to
be kept by him, and upon the filing of such application, li-
cense may be issued to him at the above rate. All automobiles
operated under such license shall carry the license plate re-
quired by section 3715 of this chapter.
SECTION 2. That Section 6114 of Chapter LIX of the Re-
vised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, relating to traffic
and travel on streets, be and the same is hereby amended to read
as follows:
"SEC. 6114. RECORD OF BUSINESS. Every person engaged in
the business (including the operating of a taxicab or auto
livery business) of renting or hiring out motor vehicles other
than a motorcycle, as well as the driver so employed or engag-
ed in the driving of any motor vehicle used in any such busi-
ness, shall keep a true and correct record of every trip made
by each such driver so employed in such business, which record
shall be for each separate day he is so employed or the said
business is operated. Said record shall show the exact time
of departure from the place of employment, the place where
every stop was made and the length of time that elapsed at
each stop, and the exact time when his employment ended, and
the place where his passenger, or if more than one, where each
passenger was discharged, which record shall at all times be

open to inspection and copy by any police officer of this city
upon demand."
SECTION 3. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners,
it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants
of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
first publication.
