Result AN ORDINANCE
An ordinance amending Chapter 60 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, 1913, by adding a section thereto to be known as
Section 1305, relating to vehicles; and repealing all ordinances or
parts of ordinances in conflict therewith.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
Section 1. There is hereby enacted a new section amendatory
to Chapter 60 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Jake City, 1913, re-
lating to vehicles, etc. , which said section '9hall be known as Section
1305, and which shall read as follows:
Sec. 1305. It shall be unlawful for the owner or person in
charge of any hack, carriage, omnibus, automobile, cab or other
vehicle used in carrying passengers for hire, to allow any such
vehicle while awaiting employment to stand upon any street in
the congested district of Salt Lake City as defined by ordinance,
unless such person shall have procured a permit in writing for
such privilege from the Chief of Police of Salt Lake City as here-
inafter provided, and unless such permit is attached to such
vehicle in a conspicuous place.
The Chief of Police of Salt Lake City is hereby empowered in
his discretion to grant permits to the owners or persons in
charge of hacks, carriages, omnibuses, automobiles, cabs or other
vehicles used in carrying passengers for hire, allowing any such

vehicles while awaiting employment to stand at certain planes
designated by said Chief of Police upon the streets within the c on-
gested district of Salt Lake City; which permits shall in all cases
continue in force for one year from the datethereof, unless sooner re-
voked as herein set forth, and d the expiration of such period of one
year such permits shall be void and of no effect; provided., that no
such permit shall be granted except upon the written consent of the
owner or his authorized agent and the occupant of the first floor of
that portion of the building in front of which it is desired that such
vehicle may stand, or from the owner of the real estate in the event
there is no building thereon, or his authorized agent.
No more than ten (10) such vehicles shall be permitted to stand
upon a street within the limits of any one block in said district, and
not more than five (5) such vehicles shall stand on one side of such
street within any such block,
bo auch vehicle shall be permitted to stand within fifty (50)
feet of any other licensed vehicle upon the same side of any street,
and no such vehicle shall be permitted to stand within thirty (30) feet
from the cross walk of any intersection, nor in front of the entrance
to a street or alley in said district.
No permit shall be issued to any person for more than one stand
upon one side of any block.
Permits may be issued in duplicate. so as to allow-twQ alternate

No such permit shall be granted except upon the written appli-
cation of the person desiring the same, filed with the Chief of Police,
stating the number and kind of vehicle for which such permit is sought
find the proposed location of the stand for such vehicle, together with
or his authorized agent
the written consent of the owner of the lot/or owner or his authorized
agent and occupant of the first floor oft he portion of building, as
the case may be, in front of which it is desired that such vehicle may
stand, as required by the provibions of this ordinance. A separate
permit shall be issued for eaoh vehicle, and all permits issued shall

contain the name of the person to whom the sane is granted, the number
and kind of vehicle, and the place or places designated as a stand for
such vehicle.
Every driver or person in charge of any vehicle for which a
permit shall have been obtained pursuant to the provisions of this
section, shall have such permit attached to sash vehicle in a conspic-
uous place at all times while driving or in charge of such vehicle,
and shall permit the examination of such permit whenever requested so
to do by a ny police officer.
No such permit is assignable except by permission of the Chief
of Police.
For each permit or duplicate thereof issued the Chief of Polioe
shall collect the sum of 4.00 to be by him paid into the City treasury.
The Chief of Police may in his discretion revoke the permit here-
in provided for of any person who shall assign or attempt to assign
the same without permission, or who shall have been convicted .'of a
violation of any ordinance of Salt Lake City c law of the State of
Utah or for disorderly or unlawful conduct while standing or driving
upon the streets of Salt Lake City.
SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinsmoes in conflict
with the provisions of Section 1306 herein, are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effeot upon its first
publication. ' ��-
