An ordinance defining and prohibiting vagrants and vagrancy, and repealing Section 470 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1903, and an ordinance amendatory thereof, enacted Novembe 15, A. D. 1909. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. The following persons are hereby declared to be vagrants: Every person, except an Indian, without visible means of liv- ing, who has the physical ability to work and who does not for the period of ten days seek employment, nor labor when employment is offered him; Every healthy beggar who solicits alms as a business; Every person who roams about from place to place without any lawful business; Every idle or dissolute person, or associate of known thieves, who wanders about the streets at late or unusual hours of the nigh . or who lodges in any barn, shed, shop, outhouse, vessel, or place other than such as is kept for lodging purposes, without the per- mission of the owner or party entitled to the possession thereof; Every woman who from doorways, on the streets, or any other plaoe, solicits men for immoral purposes; every common prostitute; and every common drunkard; Every person who commonly practices, or who follows the occu- pation of)exacting any money, tribute, or support whatsoever, from any person by means of threats, or coercion, for any purpose what- soever. It shall be unlawful for any person to be a vagrant within th= limits of Salt Lake City. SECTION 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of this `�fs , -2- ordinance, shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine o not more than 00.00, or by imprisonment in the city jail for not more than thirty days, or by both suoh fine and imprisonment. SECTION 3. Section 470 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1903, and an ordinance amending the same, enacted November 15, 1909, and all other ordinances in conflict herewith, are hereb repealed. All offenses committed as therein provided, prior to this ordinance becoming effective,. shall be prosecuted and. punished as by said repealed ordinances provided. SECTION 4.
