AN ORDINANCE AJ.`E_,,DIiTG 6ECTIO11S 2, 4, 13 and 16 of an
ordinance passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Ut-h, on the 1st day of September, 1927, entitled "An ordinance
to regulate and restrict the location of trades and industries,
and the location of buildings designed for specified uses; to
regulate and limit the height, number of stories, and size of
buildings and other structures, percentage of lot that may be
occupied, size of yards and open spaces, •the location and use of
buildings and structures and land for trade, industries, residences
and other purposes."
Be it ordained by the '=,Card. of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
S.EC'TION I. That paragraphs numbered 2, 6, 11 and 12 of
Section 2 of an ordinance passed by the board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City, Utah, on the 1st day of September, 1927, be and
the same are hereby amended to read as follows, and a new paragraph
numbered 14 be added in and to arid Section 2, which shall read
as follows, to-Wit:
2. ".Alley" - b street or thoroughfare less than twenty-
six feet wide.
6. "front Yard" - for an interior lot, an open unoccu-
pied space on the same lot with a. building, between the
front line of the building, (exclusive of steps) and the
front lot or street line and extending across the full width
of the lot. G'or a corner lot, an open unoccupied space on the

same lot with a building, between the front line of the build+-
ing, exclusive of stops, and the front lot line or street i
line also between the side line thf the building, exclusive o
steps, adjacent to the street, end the side lot line or stre t
line and extending for the full width and depth of the lot. I

14. "Corner lot" - A lot fronting on two or more inter- H
secting streets both of which are at least twenty-six feet
wide.
SECTION 2. That proposition numbered d in paragraph (a) i
and also proposition numbered 7 in, oararaph (b) of :section 4 of 1
an ordinance passed by the Board of Commissioners of ealt Lake
City, Utah, on the 1st day of .,eptember, .127, be and the sme are
hereby amended to read as follows:
(a) 6. Public parks, public recreation grounds and play-f

grounds, but not including privately owned commercial amuse-
ment parks or commercial recreation grounds.
(b) 7. A private garage that shall occupy not more than
seven per cent of the area of the lot and shall be located I
not less than sixty feet from the front lot line (30 feet forj
a corner lot on the side street) and not less- than fifteen
feet from any dwelling on an adjacent lot, unless it is a part

of the main building or la3ated in a terrace or retaining wall.
If located in a terrace or retaining wall, such garage shall

SECTION 3. That paragraph (el of Section 13 of an ordi-

building may be built nearer to the front lot line than
thirty feet, provided such building be not over twenty feet
long and be located as near to the side line, farthest from
the street, as the width of lot will permit.
SECTION h. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners,
jit is necessary to the health, peace and safety of the inhabitants';
of Salt Lake City that this ordinance take effect immediately.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
first publication.
