Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Section 1802 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, as amended by ordinances passed by the Board of Commissioners on May 24, 1944, and December 5, 1944, and Section 1829 of the Revised Ordinances or Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, as amended by an ordinance passed by the Board of Commissioners on August 30, 1944, relating to city engineer, be and the same are here- by amended to read as follows: ItSEC. 1802. SALARY. That the city engineer shall receive a salary of not to exceed $610.00 per month during such period as he shall perform services for the Metropolitan Water District of Salt Lake City and the city shall on the first day of each month bill the said Water District for a sum of not less than $200.00 for services rendered and costs incurred in its behalf during the preceding month, and said sums as collected are to be covered into the city treasury of Salt Lake City. on' The principal assistant engineer shall receive a salary of not to exceed $3960.00 per annum, payable monthly, as are the salaries or other city officers. SEC. 1829. CITY CHEMIST. There is hereby established in -2- the Department of Streets and Public Improvements of Salt Lake City the office of City Chemist. The hoard o3 Commis- sioners shall appoint and employ a competent and qualified chemist at a salary not to exceed $3240.00 per annum, who shall be in charge of said office, and whose duties it shall be to perform all chemical analytical work required by the city and to perform such other duties as the hoard of Commis- sioners of said city may require." vi 5;.
