AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 14-1-1 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955, relating to the organization and salaries
of the Fire Department, as heretofore amended by Bill No. 4 of 1956,
passed January 11, 1956, and Bill No. 12 of 1956, passed February 23, 1956.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 14-1-1 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955, "relating to the organization and salaries of
the Fire Department, as heretofore amended by Bill No. 4 of 1956,
passed January 11, 1956, and Bill No. 12 of 1956, passed February 23, 1956,
be and the same hereby is amended to read as follows:
"SECTION 14-1-1. ORGANIZATION AND SALARIES. The Fire
Department of Salt Lake City shall consist of the'following officers
I.. and employees and no others who, except the Chief, shall be appointed
C\I by the appointing power subject to the approval of the Board of
City Commissioners from the certified list of the Civil Service
Commission of Sgit Lake City for each such office or position to be
filled, and the annual salaries for each such officer or employee
shall be fixed by the Board of Commissioners at not more than the
amount hereinafter set forth, to-wit:
Per Annum
Chief of Department, who shall be head of
the Fire Department and the appointing
power $ 7200.00
3 Assistant Chiefs 6000.00
Battalion Chiefs 5640.00
1 Superintendent of Fire and Police Alarms 5640.00
Captains 5280.00
Lieutenants 4980.00
Firemen:
1st Grade 4740.00
2nd Grade 4500.00
3rd Grade 4260 00
4th Grade 4020.00
5th Grade - 3780.00
6th Grade 3540.00

Electricians:
1st Grade $4800.00
2nd Grade 4560.00
Female Alarm Operators 3300.00
In addition to the salaries hereinabove provided for each
officer and employee in the Fire Department, as above set forth,
shall be paid the sum of f 15K00 per month as a uniform allowance."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of
Salt Lake City it is necessary to the peace, ha th and safety of the
inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective
immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first pub-
lication.
Passed by the Board of City Commissioners this 17th day of
April, 1956.
