(Elimination of Records Division Fees for Senior Citizens)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 30-1-29, 30-1-31 AND 30-6-3
OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, 1965, AS
AMENDED, AND AMENDING SECTION 98 OF THE TRAFFIC CODE OF SALT LAKE
CITY, RELATING TO RECORDS DIVISION FEES.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Sections 30-1-29, 30-1-31 and 30-6-3 of the
Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, as amended,
relating to Records Division fees, be, and the same hereby are,
amended as follows:
Sec. 30-1-29. Fees. (1) Any individual seeking access and
review of his or her own personal criminal history record shall
be charged a service fee of $5.00 per record search. Any non-
state non-criminal justice agency or other person entering into a
User's Security and Privacy Non-Disclosure Agreement with Salt
Lake City Corporation or its designated agent shall be charged a
service fee of $5.00 for such signed agreement.
(2) Any person 65 years of age or over shall be exempt from
the payment of the fees required by this section.
Sec. 30-1-31. Miscellaneous fees. (1) The Chief of Police
shall charge and collect in advance the following fees for the
following services:
Fingerprinting $4.00
I.D. Cards (for other than City employees) $2.00
Theft Reports $4.00
(2) Any person 65 years of age or over shall be exempt from
the payment of the fees required by this section.
Sec. 30-6-3. Exemption. (1) In cases where the
application is received by mail from persons residing outside the
State of Utah and it appears that requiring the fee provided for
in the preceding section in advance would be unreasonably
inconvenient and time-consuming to the applicant, it shall be

within the discretion of the Chief of Police to waive the fee.
(2) Any person 65 years of age or over shall be exempt from
the payment of the fee required by Section 30-6-2 of these
revised ordinances.
SECTION 2. That Section 98 of the Traffic Code of Salt Lake
City, relating to accident reports, be, and the same hereby is,
amended to read as follows:

(3) Every law enforcement officer who investigates a motor
vehicle accident of which report must be made as required in this
section, either at the time of and at the scene of the accident
or thereafter by interviewing participants or witnesses, shall
forward a written report of such accident to the Financial
Responsibility Division of the Department of Public Safety of the
State of Utah within twenty-four hours after completing such
investigation.
(4) The Salt Lake City Police Department shall furnish upon
request to any applicant copies of officers' reports of any
traffic accident on file in such department. A fee of Four
Dollars ($4.00) for each copy of such report shall be paid by the
applicant in the office of the Chief of Police, which office
shall then issue a receipt therefor which must be presented as a
condition precedent to the delivery of such report; provided,
however, that any person 65 years of age or over shall be exempt
from the payment of said fee.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect 30 days after
its first publication.
