Result AN ORDINANCE
An ordinance amending Chapter 60 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City of 1913, by adding a section thereto to be known as
Section 1305, relating to vehicles; and repealing all ordinances or
parts of ordinances in conflict therewith.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, 'Utah:
SECTION 1. There is hereby enacted a new section amendatory
to Chapter 60 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1913,
relating to vehicles, etc., which said section shall be known as
Seotion 1305, and which shall read as follows:
SECTION 1305. It shall be unlawful for the owner or
person in charge of any hack, carriage, omnibus, automobile,
cab or other vehicle used in carrying passengers for hire, to
allow any such vehicle while awaiting employment to stand upon
any street in the congested district of Salt Lake City, as
defined by ordinance, unless such person shall have procured
a permit in writing for such privilege from the Board of
Commissioners of Salt Lake City es hereinafter provided, and
unless such permit is attached to such vehicle in a conspicuous
place.
The Board of Commissioners .r e recommendation of the
Chief of Police of Salt Lake City, is hereby empowered in its
discretion to grant permits to the owners or persons in charge

of hacks, carriages, omnibuses, automobiles, cabs or other
vehicles used in carrying passengers for hire, allowing any
suoh vehioles while awaiting employment to stand at pertain
places designated by said Board of Commissioners, upon the
streets within the congested distriot of Salt Lake bity;
which permits shall in all cases continue in force for one
year from the date thereof, unless sooner revoked, as herein
set forth, and at the expiration of such period of one year,
such permits shall be void and of no effect; provided, that
no such permit shell be granted except upon the written consent
of the owner or his authorized agent, and the occupant of the
first floor of that portion of the building in front of whim.
it is desired that such vehicle may stand, or from the owner
of the real estate in the event there is no building thereon,
or his authorized agent.
No more than ten such vehicles shall be permitted to
stand upon a street within the limits of any one block in
said district, and not more than five such vehicles shall
stand on one side of such street within any such block.
No such vehicle shall be permitted to stand within fift,
feet of any other licensed vehicle upon the scale side of any
street, and no such vehicle shall be permittecd to stand
within thirty feet from the cross walk of any intersection,
nor in front of the entrance to a street or alley in said
district.
No permit shall be issued to any person fxs for more
than one stand upon one side of any block.
Permits may be issued in duplicate so as to allow alter
nate cars at any one stand., when said cars are owned by the
same person, firm or corporation.
No such permit shall be granted except upon the written
application of the person desiring the same, filed with the

Board of Commissioners, stating the number and kind of vehiol-
fqr which such permit is sought, and the proposed location of
the stand for such vehicle, together with the written consent
of the owner of the lot, or his authorized agent, or owner or
his authorized agent, and occupant of the first floor of the
portion of building, as the case may be, in front of which it
is desired that such vehicle may stand, as required by the
provisions of this ordinance. A separate permit shall be
issued for eaoh vehicle, exoept when issued in duplicate, as
aforesaid, and all permits issued shall contain the name of
the person *o whom the same is granted, the number and kind
of vehicle, and the plane or places designated as a stand for
such vehicle or vehicles.
Every driver or person in charge of any vehicle for whin,
a permit shall have been obtained pursuant to the provisions
of this section, shall have such permit attached to such
vehicle in a conspicuous place at all times while driving or
in charge of such vehicle, and shall permit the examination
of such permit whenever requested so to do by any police
officer.
No such permit is assignable except by permission of the
Board of Commissioners.
For eaoh permit or duplicate thereof issued the License
Assessor shall oolleot the sum of $1.00, to be by him paid
into the City Treasury.
The Board of Commissioners may in its discretion revoke
the permit herein provided for of any person who shall assign
or attempt to assign the same without permission, or who shal
have been convicted of a violation of any ordinance of Salt
Lake City, or law of the State of Utah, or for any disorderly
improper or unlawful conduct while standing or driving upon
the streets of Salt Lake City.

SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
with the provisions of Section 1305 herein, are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
