AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER XXIII, Revised Ordinance$
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1920, by adding in and to said Chapter a new
Section to be known as Section 1138, relating to curb service stations.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION I. That Chapter XXIII, Revised Ordinances of Salt
Lake City, Utah, 1920, be and the same is hereby amended by adding in
and to said Chapter a new Section to be known as Section 1138, re-
la ting to curb service stations, to read as follows:
SECTION 1138. CURB SERVICE STATIONS. It shall be
unlawful for any person to operate or maintain aany gasoline
pump, or other device for the supplying or furnishing of gaso-
line to the public either at wholesale or retail, at the curb
or within the sidewalk or street area of any street in Salt
Lake City without first paying into the City Treasury of Salt
Lake City for permission so to do the sum of $15.00 for each
of such pumps, or other device. Such payment shall be made
annually in advance. Such permission may be revoked at any
time by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City upon
thirty days' notice in writing to the person owning or using
such pump or other device and upon refund by the Board of Com-
missioners of Salt Lake City of the unused portion of the said
$15.00; provided further, that the said $15.00 shall be in addi-
tion to and independent of any other charges or fees now imposed
by Salt Lake City; and provided further, that no permits for the
storage or use of petroleum, gasoline, benzine, naphtha,

distillate or any product of petroleum or hydre-carbon li-
quids, as required by this chapter, shall be issued by the
Chief of the Fire Department to any person operating or
maintaining, or intending to operate or maintain such gaso-
line pump, or other device, as heretofore set forth until
and unless the said $15.00 has been paid.
SECTION 2. PENALTY. Any person violating any provision
of this ordinance shall be punished as provided in Section 7 of
the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, 1920.
SECTION 3. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners,
it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants
of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall take effect upon its
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, the
