Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Sections 17 and 18 of the Revised Ordi- nances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1934, relating to animals, be and the same are hereby amended to read as follows: "SEC.17. UNLAWFUL FOR DOGS TO RUN AT LARGE. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to own, keep or harbor within the limits of Salt Lake City any dog which by barking, howling or yelping disturbs the quiet of any neighborhood or person. (b) It shall be unlawful for any owner or keeper of a dog to allow said dog to be on any public street,alley, side- walk or any public way or public place within the city of Salt Lake City unless said dog is on a leash. (c) It shall be unlawful for any owner or keeper of a dog to allow said dog to run upon any property in Salt Lake City without the consent of the owner or tenant in possession of said property. SEC. 18. IMPOUNDING OF DOGS RUNNING AT LARGE. All dogs running at large within the corporate limits of Salt Lake City shall be taken up and impounded in a suitable place and any dog taken up for running at large shall be detained for a period of five days and at the end of said period said dog shall be killed in as quiet and painless manner as possible, provided that the owner or keeper of any such dog so impounded may redeem the same during said period by paying to Salt Lake City the fee of One Dollar for each day said dog is so impound- ' }� . -2- ed." . SECTION 2. Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance upon conviction shall be fined not less than One Dollar (1131.00) nor more than One Hundred Dollars (yrlJ0.00), or be impri- soned in the city jail for a period of not less than one day nor more than thirty days. .,; SECTION 3.
