AI ORDIISANCE APi 'PIDING SECTION 5402 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, as amended by an ordinance passed. by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City on March 3, 1948, relating to smoke inspection and abate- ment; amending Section 5802 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, relating to streets and irrigation.; and amending Section 6502 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, relating to water supply and water works. Be it ordained by the Loard of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Section 5402 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1941, as amended by an ordinance passed by the Board of Cormniss _oners of Salt Lake City on March 3, 1948, relating to smoke inspection and abatement, be and the same is ,tea hereby amended to read as follows: "SEC. 5402. CHIEF ENGINEER. The Board of Commissioners may appoint a chief engineer who will act in the capacity of chief engineer and head of the Salt Lake City Power and Heating Division at a salary hot to exceed :.4500.00 per annum. The chief engineer shall be an engineer qualified by training and experience in the theory and practice of the construction and operation of steam boilers and furnaces and also in the theory and practice of smoke control and prevention." SECTION 2. That Section 5802 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, relating to streets and irrigation, be and the sane is hereby amended to read as follows: "SEC. 5802. SUPERVISOR OF STREETS AND IRRIGATION. The -2 hoard of Commissioners nay appoint a competent person to the office of supervisor of dtreets and irrigation who shall re- ceive a salary not to exceed si.;.920.00 per annum, payable monthly. The supervisor of streets aid irrigation shall, before he enters upon the duties of his office, take and subscribe the constitutional oath of office, and execute a bond with good and sufficient sureties to be approved by the Poard of Commissioners, payable to the city, in the penal sum of f5000.00, conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of his office, and the payment of moneys received by him as such officer, according, to law and the ordinances of the said city.' SECTION; 3. That Section 6502 of the Revised Ordinances o Salt Lake City, Utah, 1914)4, relating to water supply and water works, be aid the same is hereby amended to read as follows: "SEC. 6502. APPOI d ME1IPS, SALARIES. The Board of Commis- sioners of Salt Lake City, UtaYl, may appoint a competent per son to the office of superintendent of water works, who shall receive a salary of not to exceed ,11.920.00 per annual; and a competent person as assistant superintendent of water works, who shall receive a salary of not to exceed 5).800.00 per annum, said salaries payable monthly. { The Poard of Conunissioners may authorize and recap ire the city engineer to act as superintendent of water works without compensation in addition to his salary as such city engineer.'
