Fehr { - � Finch Moran Mr.Chairman AN ORDINANCE Result AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1272, Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1920, as amended by an ordinance passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 10th, 1924, relating to electrical inspection. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION I. That Section 1272, Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1920, as amended by an ordinance passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, on,April 10th, 1924, relating to electrical inspection, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: , SECTION 1272. CONTRACTING ELECTRICIANS. (a) It shall be Unlawful for any person to engage in, commence, conduct or carry on the business of a contracting electrician without first obtaining a license so to do. The license fee for a contracting electrician shall be twenty-five 425.00) dollars per annum. Any competent electrician not less than twenty-one years of age and having an established place of business in Salt Lake City, upon making an application and upon payment to the city license collector of twenty-five ( 25.00) Dollars for the year, and upon giving a bond in the sum of One Thousand ( il,000.00) Dollars with corporate surety conditioned that the applicant will conduct his business and perform his services as such contracting electrician without fraud, or negligence, and will faithfully observe and obey all ordinances and regu- 30 I I lations of Salt Lake City pertaining to electrical work and installation and will save all persons harmless from any and all damages which may arise by reason of his fraud, negli- genes or failure to faithfully observe all such ordinances and regulations, may receive a contracting electrician's li- I tense. (b) Any person who regularly maintains a competent electrical maintenance man doing maintenance work only, in and about his (the employer's) own buildings or property for such employer's own purpose and use only, must have an elec- trical maintenance license. Said license will cost twelve and 50/100 ( 12.50) Dollars per annum. Maintenance work shall mean the keeping in repair and operation of any and all existing electrical installa- tions, apparatus and appliances, and extensions to same, not to exceed one branch circuit capacity for each specific ex- tension. SECTION 2. Any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall be punished by fine in any sum not ex- ceeding Two Hundred Ninety-nine ( 299.00) Dollars or by im- prisonment in the city jail not longer than six months or by both such fine and imprisonment. The court may, in imposing the fine, enter as part of the judgment that in default of the payment of the fine the defendant may be imprisoned in the city jail for a period not exceeding six months. SECTION 3. In the opinion of the Board of Commis- sioners, it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance shall take effect immediately. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect on and after January 1, 1928.
