Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah SECTION I That Chapter 37, Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1920, be and the same is hereby amended by adding in and to said chapter a new Section to be known as Section 1414-A, relating to municipal government, which shall read as follows SECTION 1414-X There is hcreby created in the Department of Public Safety the offices of Chief Radio Tech- nician and radio operators The Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City may u 00 appoint a competent person, who must hold a first grade commercial license or a first grade radio telephone license granted by the Federal Radio Commission and who has had at least five years experience in either the United States Army, Navy or Marine Signal Corps or a licensed radio station, to the office of Chief Radio Technician Before entering upon the duties of his office, the Chief Radio Technician shall take and subscribe the conttitutional oath of office and give bond in the sum of One Thousand Dollars as provided by law The Chief Radio Technician shall have charge, under the general supervision of the Commissioner of Public Safety, of the Salt Lake Cityts radio station and radio equipment He shall maintain said equipment to conform with the standards of the Federal Radio Commission and make all necessary reports to the said Federal Radio Commission and perform such other 30 k I i -2- �I duties as are prescribed by law or ordinance or are assigned to him by the Commissioner of Public Safety. I i The Chief Radio Technician shall receive a salary not to exceed $1980 00 per annum, payable semi-monthly The Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake city may appoint such radio operators as may be necessary for the proper conduct of the said radio station Each radio operato4 must be a holder of at least a second grade radio telephone ! license granted by the Federal Radio Commission slid each radio operator shall operate the equipment of the said radio station and perform such other duties as are assigned to him by the Chief Radio Technician or the Commissioner of Public Safety • Each radio operator shall receive an annual salary } of not to exceed $1860 00 per annum, payable semi-monthly 1 SECTION 2 In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners, it Is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective immediately.
