Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Section 879 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1934, as amended by ordinances passed by the Board of Commissioners on November 10, 1936, and February 19, 1942, relating to the Police Department, be and the same is hereby amend- ed to read as follows: t"SEC. 879. The Chief of Police may assign any sub- ordinate officer in the department to any duty which in his judgment the good of the service may require, and may change such assignment from time to time whenever in his judgment the good of the service requires. Whenever assignments are intended for a period of thirty days or more, the chief of police shall report to the Board of Commissioners the names of such patrolmen as are assigned by him to the following services, to-wit: Detective Sergeants and detectives. Copies of such assignment shall be filed with the city auditor and secretary of the civil service commission. Patrolmen, when acting in the following capacities under assignments for thirty days or more, shall be entitled to com- pensation in addition to regular compensation as patrolmen, to be fixed by the Board of Commissioners, and not to exceed the following: Detective Sergeants -- $20.00 per- month. Detectives -- $10.00 per month. - t)A -2- SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners, it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that tnis ordinance shall take effect immediately. SECTION 3.
