AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1288, Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1920, relating to transient merchants,
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
SECTION I. That Section 1288, Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1920, relating to transient merchants,
be and the same is hereby amended by adding the following words
at the end of said Section:
"The provisions of this Section shall not apply
to sales of merchandise damaged by fire or smoke, or of
bankrupt concerns, where such stocks have been acquired
from merchants of Salt Lake City Aeretofore regularly
in business, in which cases, however, such stocks of
merchandise shall not be augmented by new goods."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners,
it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants
of Salt Lake City that this ordinance shall become effective im-
mediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah this day of A.D. 1925.

AN ORDINANCE SECTION 1968 of Chapter LXIV, Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1920, as amended by an ordi-
nance passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City on
July 7, 1924, relating to Water Supply and Water Works.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
SECTION I. That Section 1968 of Chapter L}IV, Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1920, as amended by an ordi-
nance passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City on
July 7, 1924, relating to Water Supply and Water Works, be and
the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
SECTION 1968. EMPLOYEES. COMPENSATION. The Board
of Commissioners may appoint and employ in the department of
water supply and water works, the following assistants,
clerks and anployees:
One chief clerk at a salary not to exceed 41,920.00
per annum, who shall, before assuming the duties of his office,
take and subscribe the constitutional oath of office, and shall
give a bond to Salt Lake City in the sum of 41,000.00 condi-
tioned as required by law; one assessor of water rates at a
salary not to exceed 'p2700.00 per annum, who shall, before
assuming the duties of his office, take and subscribe the con-
stitutional oath of office, and shall give a bond to Salt
Lake City in the sum of 5,000.00, conditioned as required by

law; and such stenographers, clerks, foremen, pipemen, motor
men, machinists, blacksmiths and employees as may be neces-

sary for the proper conduct of such department at such corn-
pensation as may be determined by the board of commissioners
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners,:

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect at once upon
publication.
