Be it ordained by the Board. of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION L. That Section 1290, Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1934, relating to movement of heavy equipment over streets, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: SEC. 1290. MOVING HOUSES, HEAVY EQUIPMENT. PERMIT. BOND. It shall be unlawful for any person to move any house, building, tractor, roller, dragline, caterpillar, steam shovel, road equipment, industrial equipment, or circus or carnival equipment, Steel safe, or any other structure or equipment, likely to injure, damage or deface the surface, structure or foundation of a street, upon, over, cross or along any public street, alley or highway in Salt Lake City without first obtain- ing a permit from the Department of Streets and Public Improve- 3 ments of Salt Lake City so to do, which permit must be displayed to any police officer or street department Inspector upon demand. Such permit shall be issued only on approval of a written appli- cation therefor. Said application shall designate the nature and location of such structure or equipment, the place to which the applicant intends to move the same, the time to be employed, the hours of the day or night during which it is desired to move such equipment; and the public streets, sidewalks, alleys or highways upon, over, across or along which said structure or equipment is to be moved. The application shall be approved by the Department of Streets and Public Improvements of Salt Lake 32 City when it appears that the applicant has filed a bond for one thousand (31,000.00) Dollars with the City .Recorder indem nifying Salt Lake City or any person damaged against any loss or damage of any kind or description whatsoever due to the `` use of the public sidewalks, streets, alleys or highways as herein mentioned. Whenever in the opinion of the Board of Commission- ers the bond provided for in this section shall be deemed in- adequate for the protection of the city or the public, said Board of Commissioners may require the bond to be in any sum not exceeding $5,000.00. SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners, it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance shall take effect immediate- ly. f t SECTION 3.
