327 of 1900 - Ordinance 327 of 1900 – Compelling prisoners to work. AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT PERSONS COMMITTED TO THE CITY PRISON OR TO THE COUNTY JAIL FOR VIOLATION OF CITY ORDINANCES BE COMPELLED TO LABOR. BE IT ORDAINED By the Mayor and City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, That whenever any person is committed to imprisonment for violation of any City Ordinance, that such person shall be required by the judgment of the Court to labor, under the direction of the Chief of Police, for • Salt Lake City Corporation, at such labor as his or her strength will permit, not exceeding eight hours each working day, and if committed for the bon- PC payment of a fine,nfor such work the person so required to labor shall be allowed one dollar for each day's work on account of such fine and costs. 2. Section Two of Chapter Thirty-one of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, 1892 is hereby repealed.
