An ordinance enacting two new sections, to be known as Section .
660a and Section 660b, and amending and re-enacting Section 661 of
the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City of 1903.
Be it ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That two new sections to be known as Section 660a
and Section 660b, be and the same are hereby enacted; said new sec-
tions to read as follows:
SECTION 660a. The order mentioned in the preceding section
(660), or an order subsequent thereto msde by the City Council
shall contain a direction to the City Engineer to prepare plans
and specifications for said improvement, including an estimate
of the cost and expense of the engineering, inspection, publish-
ing notice, and making tax levy in connection with such improve-
ment; said order shall also contain an instruction to the Board
of Public Works to proceed to advertise for bids for making such
improvement, for a period of twenty (20) days, as required by
law.
SECTION 660b. The Board of Public Works shall furnish
each bidder for the contract to make such improvement the esti-
mate of the cost and expense of the engineering, inspection,
publishing noticeSand making tax levy mentioned in the preceding
section (660a), with instructions to each of said bi.diers to
include the amount thereof in his bid for doing the work contem-
ileted by said improvent.
SECTION 2. That Section 661 or the revised Ordinances of Snit i
Lake City of 1903, be, and_ the same hereby is amended end re-enacted
so as to rend as follows:
SECTION 661. ';hen the contractor has fininlied hlo entract,
or such part thereof as may be provided in the contract for such
work, the Council hsll pass an ordinance levying; a spec iad,. tax
sufficient in amount to cover the cost of ouch inprovortent ds

appears•by'the contract entered into for the performance of said
work, upon-`the blocks, lots or parts thejreof, or pieces of ground
in front of, or along or upon which said improvement has been
completedaccording to said contract.
Said ordinance shall include:
(al A reference to,,the proposed improvement and the dis-
tric;t to be,.benefited `
(b) '61.e d4st of the improvemer:t es appears from the con-
treat eMtered into for tl performa,ce of the work to tie blocks,
lots or. parts thereof, "Or pieces of ground in front of, er along
or upon^which ,Said impri%vement has been completed, and upon
which Said tax is levied-.
(s-) A desdription 9f the blocks, lots, or parts thereof,
or piedes 'of ground to 'li affoeted or benefited by said improve-
merft, `tind'upon which said tax`is levied.
(d) A determination of the manner of making the assess-
ment of the special tax, in respect to the foot frontage, square
foot or other unit of measurement.
(e) A finding and determination of the benefit of the im-
provement to the property assessed.
(f) A declaration of the levy and assessment of the special
tax.
(g) A direction and authorization to the Treasurer to
assess and oolleot the tax.
SECTION 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict i'

herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
