AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 20-13-1 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to private detective license
required.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 20-13-1 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to private detective license
required, be, and the same hereby is amended as follows:
Sec. 20-13-1. License required.
(1) It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in the
business of private detective or investigator for a fee or
reward unless such person first applies for and obtains a
private detective license from Salt Lake City Corporation.
(2) It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in the
business of watchman, guard or private patrolman service for
a fee or reward unless such person first applies for and obtains
a private security license from Salt Lake City Corporation.
(3) No license shall be issued for any private detective
license or for a private security license unless the licensee
has complied in all respects with the provisions contained in
this chapter. Wherever in this chapter the words "private
detective license" are used, it shall also be construed to mean
private security license.
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, it is necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the
inhabitants of Salt Lake City that this ordinance become effective
immediately.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 23rd day of February, 1978.
