AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Sections 34-1-2, 34-1-5 and 34-1-6 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to advertising for, and
acceptance of, bids to construct public improvements to be paid for out of
the general funds.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That Sections 34-1-2, 34-1-5 and 34-1-6 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to advertising for, and
acceptance of, bids to construct public improvements to be paid for out of
the general funds, be, and the same hereby are, amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 34-1-2. Advertising for bids required. If the estimated
cost of such improvement does not exceed eight thousand dollars, the
improvement may be made without publication of notice and advertising
for bids. If the estimated cost exceeds eight thousand dollars, the
board of commissioners shall, if it shall determine to make such im-
provement, do so by contract let to the lowest responsible bidder,
after publication of notice for at least five days in a newspaper in
Salt Lake City; provided that such improvement shall not be divided
as to permit the making of such improvement in several parts, except
by contract as above provided.
"Sec. 34-1-5. Readvertising if all bids are rejected. If all
bids are rejected and the board of commissioners desires to make
the improvement, it shall advertise anew as in the same manner as
before,
"Sec. 34-1-6. After twice advertising, city may proceed. If,
after twice advertising, as provided in this chapter, no bid shall
be received that is satisfactory, the board of commissioners may
proceed under its own direction to make the improvement.
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners, it is necessary
to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City, that
this ordinance become effective immediately.

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah, this
13th day of May, 1965.
