AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 9-3-4 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to proscribed hours for dancing in public dance halls. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Section 9-3-4 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, relating to proscribed hours for dancing in public dance halls, be, and the same hereby is amended to read as follows: "Sec. 9-3-4. Proscribed hours. It shall be unlawful for any person to conduct or maintain any dance hall licensed by this title, or having charge or control thereof, to allow or permit any such dance or dancing, between the hours of one a.m. (or two a.m. daylight savings time when daylight savings time is in force and effect by law in Salt Lake City, Utah) of any week day and eight a.m. of the same day or between the hours of one a.m. (-r two a.m. daylight savings time when daylight savings time is in force and effect by law in Salt Lake City, Utah) Sunday and eight a.m. of the following Monday; provided, however, as excep- tions to the foregoing requirements that on New Year's Day dancing may be permitted to continue after one a.m. until two a.m. on any day of the week except Monday, and provided further that when New Year's Day falls on Monday, dancing may be permitted from 12:01 a.m. to four a.m." SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners it it necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City, Utah, that this ordinance become effective immediately. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first publication.
