BE IT DM ACTED by the Board of Commissioners ofSalt City, Utah.

SECTION I. That .iection 2097, Revised Ordinances of ,salt
Lake City, 1920, relating to gasoline,be and the same is hereby
amended so as to read as follows:
SECTION 2097. (a) It shall be unlawful for any
person to sell or offer for sale within Salt Lake City, any
common gasoline which does not conform to the standard as
fired by the United States Bureau of Mines as motor gasoline
and which does not conform to the follorring properties and
tests:
Color - Method 10.1. he color shall not be dark-
er than TTo. 16 Saybolt.
Corrosion test. - Method 530.2. .. clean copper strip
shall not be discolored when submerged in the gasoline for 3
hours at 122° F.
Distillation range. - Method 100.1. Mhen the first
drop has been recovered in the graduated receiver, the ther-
mometer shall not read more than GOY C. (140° 2.)
Then 20 per cent has been recovered in the receiver,
the thermometer shall not read more than 105°C. (221°F.)
Chen 50 per cent has been recovered in the receiver,
the thermometer shall not read more than 140°C. (284°P. )
When 90 per cent has been recovered in the re-
ceiver, the thermometer shall not read more than 190°C.
(374°2.)
The end point shall not be hisher than 225°C.
(437°2.)
.:et least 95 per cent shall bo recovered as distil-
late in the receiver from the distillation.

testing petroleum products adopted by the Interdepartmental
f'otroleum '3pecifications Committee of the Unitod states
Bureau of 'lines.
(b) It shall be unlawful for any person to sell
or offer for sale within halt Lo1_e City any 11:i 7h test or
special gasoline which (loos not conform to the following
properties avid tests:
Che gasoline shall be free from ._ediEsolved water
and suspended matter.
Color - water white.
Doctor test - Method 520.2. DDe doctor test shall
be negative.
Corrosion test. - Method 530.1. One hundred c.c.
of the gasoline shall cause no gray or blac'h corrosion and
no weighable amount of deposit when evaporated in a polish-
ed copper dish.
Distillation range. - Method 100.1. The tempera-
ture limits are as follows: initial h.k. shall not exceed
40°C. (104°F.)
„hen 10 per cent of the sample has been recovorec
in the graduated receiver, the thermometer shall not read
more than 65°C (149°F.) or less than 50°C.(12261'.)
When 20 per cent of the sample has been recover°.
in the graduated receive, the thermometer shall not read

more than 85°C (185°P.)
When 50 per cent has been recovered in the receive',
the thermometer shall not read more than 115°C. (239°F.)
When 90 per cent has been recovered in the receive ,
the thermometer shall not read more than 170°C. (338°F.)
The end point shall not be higher than 200'C.(392°I .)
At least 96 per cent shall be recovered as distill::te
in the receiver-from the distillation.
Acidity;-Method, 510.2. The residue remaining in
the flask after.the distillation is completed shall not show
an. acid reactio' .
All tests shall ho made according to the method of
testing petroleum products adopted by the Interdepartmental
Petroleum Specifications Coithittee of tha United States
Bureau of Mines.
(c) It shall be unlawful for any person to sell ank
gasoline which has been adulterated by the addition or mixt ' e
of naphtha or any distillate..or other substance, without
written notice to the purchaser of such adulteration.
SECTION 2. Any person violating any provision of this .r-
dinance shall be punished by fine in any sum not exceeding Two H -
dred Ninety-nine (0299.00) Dollars or by imprisornient in the cit
jail not longer than six months or by both such fine and imprison-
ment. The court may, in imposing the fine, enter as part of the
judgment that in default of the payment of the fine the defendan
may be imprisoned in the city jail for a period not exceeding
six months.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect thirty-one
days after publication.
