AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Title 32 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1955, relating to public offenses, by adding thereto
three new sections relating to rout, unlawful assembly and refusal to
disperse.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Title 32 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt
Lake City, Utah, 1955, relating to public offenses, be, and the same
hereby is, amended by adding thereto three new sections to be known as
Sections 32-1-50.1, 32-1-50.2, and 32-1-50.3, relating to rout, unlawful
assembly and refusal to disperse, respectively, to read as follows:
"Sec. 32-1-50.1. Rout. Whenever two or more persons,
assembled and acting together, make any attempt or advance
towards the commission of an act which would be a riot, if
actually committed, such assembly is a rout. It shall be
unlawful for any person to participate in a rout.
"Sec. 32-1-50.2. Unlawful assembly. Whenever two or
more persons, assemble together to do any unlawful act,
and separate without doing or advancing toward it, or do
a lawful act in a violent, boisterous or tumultuous manner,
such assembly is an unlawful assembly. It shall be unlawful
for any person to participate in any unlawful assembly.
"Sec. 32-1-50.3. Refusal to disperse. It shall be
unlawful for any person to remain present at the place of
any riot, rout or unlawful assembly after the same has been
lawfully warned to disperse, except public officers and
persons assisting them in attempting to disperse the same."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners, it
is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of
Salt Lake City, Utah, that this ordinance become effective immediately.

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 14th day of May, 1962.
