An ordinance defining and licensing real estate agent.:.
Be it ordained by the City Council of salt Lake City, Utah:
slleTIO3i 1. That every person, firm or corporation who or which
shall act as agent for any party in the leasing, renting or selling
of houses or real estate at private or public sale, for c anmission
or oompensation, or who or which shall receive or collect rents for
another for a eommission or other compensation, or who or which
shall sell or negotiate the sale of real estate for others for com-
mission or compensation, or who or which shall advertise or hang out
any sign or device which shall designate such person, firm or corpo-
ration as an agent for the renting, collecting rents, leasing or
selling of houses or real estate, shall be deemed a real•estate
agent.
slCTI01t 2. The license f or a real estate agent shall be twenty-
five ($2e.00) dollars per annum, payable annually, semi-annually or
quarterly in advance. Any real estate agent transacting such busi-
ness without a license shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and
upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not less than
one hundred i$100.00) dollars nor more than two hundred and ninety-
nine {0299.00) dollars, or by imprisonment for not more than six
oonths, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
ICTIO11 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
erewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
NSITION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.

Gentlemen:-
The Committee appointed by the Salt Lake Real Estate
Association, who petitioned your Honorable body to repeal the Real
Estate Agents license fee for reasons therein set forth, now ask
to withdraw:said petitions, and in lieu:thereof, respectfully submit
for your favorable report to the Council, the aptched amendment
or substitu°tign fttr "Sec. 402 of 1903, a041.wiaien in relation to
Real Estate.A ent}p" knot'ask for its adoption andpassage.

enforced, ttiis:Association will be sati Pied, but should it become
a dead letter and violated, as the present ordinance is, the
Association will feel warranted to again come before the City
Council to renew their efforts for the repeal of the Real Estate
Agents license.
