ORDINANCE .
An ordinance amending and re-enacting Rule A of Section 817 of
the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, as amended by an ordinance
amending Section $1, of Chapter XXXV of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City,'passed. June 30, 1906, and approved July 5, 1905.
Be it ordained by the City Ceunoil of Salt Lake City, Utah:
SBCTIOS 1. That Rule A of Section 617 of the Revised 0rdi-
nanoes of Salt Lake City, as amended by an ordinance amending Sec-
tion 317 of Chapter XXXV of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake
City, passed Juno 30, 190$, and approved July 8, 1908, be and the
same hereby is amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Rule A. No plumbing work shall be begun without first ob-
taining a permit therefor. Ivory building in which plumbing
arrangements are constructed shall be conneetsd with the city
sewer, where sueh sewer is provided, and when it is not pro-
vided, with a Doss-pool in a location and with a capacity to be
approved by the Beard of Zealth. Every plumber, before doing
plumbing work en any building, and before mating any additions
to old work, excepting repairs (and repair' aro defined to oon-
sist of Sending leeks in drain, soil, weete and vent pipes; and
repairs en faweets, valves and water supply pipes, and of fore-
ing out waste pipes, or replacing water closet bowl or opening
soil or waste pipes to remove an obstruction), shall obtain a
written permit issued by said Plumbing Inspector to do said
work; IrovicleC that in buildings which are condemned by the
Board of Health or Plumbing Inspector beeause of unsanitary
condition, no plumbing shall be considered as Doming under the
head of repairs, but all plumbing shall be done as in the ease
of new buildings. All work shall be subject to inspection.
Under no circumstances shall any mechanic doing the work
of plumbing or house draining, or aror employe of such mechanic, '
act as the agent of the Inspector of Plumbing to perform the .-
duties prescribed in this ordinance.
