AN ORDINANCE
An ordinance levying a tax and for the assessment oP
property on Fifth East Street between Tenth South and Twelfth South
Streets. and in Harvard, Herbert and Belmont Avenues, and on Ninth
South Street between West Temple and Fifth East Street, in Sewer
Districts Nos. 1 and 2, for the construction of sewers.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City
does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the same
upon the property hereinafter described in Sewer District No. 2, for
the construction of sewers, to-wit:
In lots 19 and 20, Block 20; 1 to 6, inclusive, Block 1,
and 1 to 13, inclusive, Block 2, Lyndale Subdivision; 10 and 11,
Block 1, and 10 and 11, Block 2, Leadville Place Subdivision; 1 to
30, inclusive, Block 3, 15 and 16, Block 4, 1 and a$, 11 to 20, inclusive,
Block 5, and 20 Block 6, Gordon Plat Subdivision; 2, Block 2, Denver
Place Subdivision; 26 to 32, inclusive, Block 1, 1, XX, and 31 to 60,
inclusive Block 2, Carolina Subdivision of Block 20; 1 to 8, inclusive,
Bloc'krl, and 1 to 8, inclusive, Block 2, Harvard Place Subdivision of
Block 21, Five-Acre Plat "A", Big Field Survey, abutting on both
sides of Third East Street between Herbert and Belmont Avenues, both
sides of Herbert Avenue between Denver Street and Third East Street,
the east side of Fourth East Street and the west side of Denver Street
between Herbert and Harvard Avenues, both sides of Harvard Avenue
I - between and Fourth East Streets, and on the west side of Fifth
East Street between Tenth South and Harvard Avenue.
This tax is levied to defray the expense of constructing
vitrified pipe sewer ten (10), twelve (12) and fifteen (15) inches
in diameter, upon the portions of said streets opposite the property
hereinbe£ore and hereinafter described to be especially affected and
benefited by said imptovement, and it is hereby adjudged, determined
and established that said property will be especially benefited thereby
to the full amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land
are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rate in a000rdanoe with the
linear foot frontage upon said portions of said street fronting upon
and to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet back therefrom, and the tax
hereby levied and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is seven
thousand seven hundred twenty-five and 64/100 (7,725.64) dollars, or
one and 425/1000 (1.425) dollars per front or linear foot of abutting
property, there being p421.50 feet of abutting property within the
boundaries of the lots, blocks and streets above mentioned in said
district, which is the total cost and cost per front foot of said sewers,
according to the contract entered into for the performance of said work
and making said improvement, with P. J. Moran, dated. June 23, 1913, and
the Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to assess, in accord-
ance with the provisions of this ordinance, for the purpose herein
mentioned:

side of the south 57.50 feet of lot 19, the east side of the north
33 feet of lot 20, Block 20; the east side of lots 1 to 6, inclusive,
Block 1, and the east side of lots 1 to 13, inclusive, Block 2, Lyndale
Subdivision, the north side of lots 10 and 11, Block 1, and the north
side of lots 10 and 11, Block 2, Leadville Place Subdivision, the
north side of lot 1, the west side of the south 15 feet of lot 1, the
west side of lots 2 to 15, inclusive, the south side of lot 16, the east
side of the north 14.20 feet of lot 16, the east side of lots 17 to 30,
inclusive, Block 3, the south side of liots de 15o iand 16, Block 4, the

and the west side of lots 31 to 41, inclusive, Block 2, Carolina Sub-
division of Block 20; the east side of the south 10.62 feet of lot 1,
the east side of lots 2 to 8, inclusive, Block 1, and the east side of
lots 1 to 8, inclusive,Blook 2, Harvard Place Subdivision of Block 21;
all in Five-Acre Plat "A", Big Field. Survey, as the same are shovel

upon the official plats of said city to a depth of twenty-five (25)
feet back from said, streets, and to collect said tax.
SECTION 2. Said tax shall become and be delinquent in five
equal yearly installments, with interest on the whole sum unpaid at
the rate of six per cent per annum, payable at the time each install-
ment is due, towit: One-fifth thereof one year after the ordinance
confirming the levy of the tax for the payment for such improvement
becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in two years after said ordin-
ance becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in three years after said
ordinance becomes effective; one-fifth thereof in four years after
said ordinance becomes effective, and one-fifth thereof in five years
after said ordinance becomes effective. One or more o ani4. install-
ments, in the order in which they are payable, or the whole special
tax, may be paid at any time within thirty days after the ordinance
confirming the levy of the tax becomes effective, without interest.
In the event of any installment or the interest aforesaid not being
paid on the date the same becomes due, the whole amount of the special
tax unpaid at the time said installment and interest are due, shall
become due and payable, and shall draw interest at the rate of eight
per cent per annum, until the sale of the property assessed; provided,
one or more installments, in the order in which they are payable, or
the whole special tax unpaid, may be paid on the day any installment
becomes due, by paying the amount thereof and interest to said date.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect one day after
its first publication.
