AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A TAX and for the assessment of pro-
perty (Sidewalk Extension No. 238) for the purpose of constructing
cement sidewalks.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City, Utah:
SECTION I. That the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake
City does hereby levy the tax and provide for the assessment of the
same upon the property hereinafter described (Sidewalk Extension No.
238) for the purpose of constructing cement sidewalks, to-wit:
Lots 4 and 5 of Block 99 and Lots 1 and 8 of Block 100,

Grove Avenue - Main Street to West Temple Street; both sines of
Loveland Avenue - 7th East to 8th East Streets; the east side of
8th Last Street - 27th South Street to Clayborne Avenue; both side-
of Clayborne Avenue - east 437.25 ft. from 8th East Street; and bouh
sides of Hudson Avenue - 8th Last to 9th Last Streets (except wher:
walk was previously constructed); and constructing five (5) foot
sidewalk on the east side of 8th West Street - 6th North to 7th
North Streets; the south side of Sunnyside Avenue - Greenwood Ter-
race to a point 201.78 ft. east of Diestel Road, from a point 505..1
ft. east of Diestel road to Foothill drive and from 21st to ;2nd
East Street; the east side of Douglas Street South 118.55 ft. from
Westminster Avenue; the west side of 17th East Street - 17th South
Street to Garfield Avenue; the east side of 17th East Street - 17t
South to 21st South Streets; both sides of Imperial Street - Park-
way .Avenue to Stratford :.,venue; the west side of llth East treet
- Atkin Avenue to Crandall avenue; the west side of Highland Drive
- 27th South Street to city limit line; the east side of Highland

where walk was previously constructed); all said sidewalks to be
four (4) inches thick; upon the portions of said streets opposite
the property hereinbefore and hereinafter described to be especial
ly affected and benefited by said improvement, and it is hereby
adjudged, determined and established that said property will be es
pecially benefited thereby to the full amount of the tax hereby
levied and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal an
uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon and
to the entire depth of the same ownership back therefrom not excee:-
ing 330 feet, and the tax hereby levied and to be assessed upon sa'd
parcels of land is Forty-six Thousand, Seven Hundred Seventy-eight
and 58/100 ($46,778.58) Dollars; Twelve Thousand, One Hundred Sift -
five and 16/100 ($12,155.16) Collars or Two and 805/1000 ($2.805)
Dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property for construcu-
ing four (4) foot walk, there being 4,333.39 feet abutting said
portion of said improvement; and Thirty-four Thousand, Six Hundred
Twenty-three and 42/100 ($34,623.42) Dollars or Three and 2.05/1000:
(0.205) Dollars per front or linear foot of abutting property for-
constructing five (5) foot walk, there being 10,802.94 feet abutti g
said portion of said improvement; within the boundaries of the lot•,
blocks and streets above mentioned, which is the total abutters'
cost and cost per front foot of said sidewalks, according to the
contract entered into for the performance of said work and making
said improvement with Young and Smith Construction Company, dated

SECTION 2. That the assessment list made by the City

Treasurer, as corrected, approved and completed by the Board of
Equalization and Review, of the property described in Section 1 of
this ordinance (Sidewalk Extension No. 238) of Salt Lake City, for
the purpose of constructing a sidewalk upon said portions of said
streets, is hereby confirmed, and the assessments made and return-
ed in said completed lists and the report of the Board of Equaliza
tion and Review to the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City are
hereby ratified, approved and confirmed.
SECTION 3. Said tax shall be payable in five equal year-
ly installments as provided by law and ordinance with interest on
the whole sum unpaid at the rate of five per cent per annum, payab e
at the time each installment is due; provided, however, that one o
more of such installments in the order payable, or the whole tax,
may be paid without interest within fifteen (15) days from the data
this ordinance becomes effective. One or more installments in the
order in which they are payable, or the whole special tax, may be
paid after said fifteen days and before the first installment be-
comes due by paying the same with interest from the date of levy
to the date such first installment is due. One or more install-
ments in the order in which they are payable, or the whole special
tax, may be paid on the date any installment becomes due by paying
the amount thereof and interest to the date of payment. Default i.
the payment of any such installment of principal or interest when
due shall cause the whole of the unpaid principal or interest to
become due and payable immediately and the whole amount of the un-
paid principal shall thereafter draw interest at the rate of ten
per cent per annum until paid, but at any time prior to the date
of sale or foreclosure, the owner may pay the amount of all unpaid
installments past due with interest at the rate of ten per cent
per annum to date of payment on the delinquent installments, and a 1
accrued costs, and shall thereupon be restored to the rights there
after to pay in installments in the same manner as if default had
not occurred.

SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect one day
after its publication.
