An Ordinance amending Section 40, Revised Ordinances of
Sal Lake City, 1913, as amended by an ordinance passed by the
Boa d of Commissioners February 2, 1920, and amending Section 41,
Rev sed Ordinances of Salt Lake City, 1913, as amended by an ordi-
nan e passed by the Board of Commissioners July 31, 1918, both re-
lati, g to the Board of Health.
Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake, City, Utah:
Section I. That Section 40, Revised Ordinances of Salt
Lake' City, 1913, as amended by an ordinance passed by the Board
of C mmissioners February 2, 1920, be and the same is hereby amend-
ed tp read as follows:
Section 40. Appointments.The Board of Commissioners
pay *point the following officers, assistants and employes of
the B'.ard of Health, who shall receive annual salaries, payable
monthly, not exceeding the amounts as follows:
Health Commissioner 53300.00
First assistant health commis-
sioner 1680.00
Second assistant health commis-
sioner 1680.00
The Health Commissioner and As-
sistant Health Commissioners shall
each receive the sum of ;'25.00 per
month for transportation and expenses.
Bacteriologist 1620.00

ame ded to read as follows:.
Section 41. Inspectors. There shall be not to ex-
1ceed thirty-three inspectors in said department, divided into
foot grades as follows: First, second, third and fourth grades.
Inspectors without previous experience shall be ap-

pointed to the fourth grade only. Inspectors of the third grade
!Me have served at least six months in the fourth grade or a
year or more in the health department service elsewhere. In-
Ispeetors of the second grade must have served one year in the
third and fourth grades, or two years or more in the health de-
}pgrtnent service elsewhere. Inspectors of the first grade must
ih2,443 served two years or more in the health department, or posses
;special qualifications for health department service to be deter

'mined by the Board of Health.
All applicants for the position of inspector or for
'advancement in the service shall successfully pass such examina-
tion, or possess such qualifications as may be required by the I
(Board of Health. I
j Section III. In the opinion of the Board of Commission
era it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the city
that this ordinance become effective immediately.
Section IV. This ordinance shall take effect upon
