Keyser Murdoch ksxx - - i, 1.ee Mr. Chairman - AN ORDINANCE Result AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 28, Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1934, by adding in and to said Chapter a new section to be known as Section 667X, relating to licenses. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Chapter :28, Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1934, be and the same is hereby amended by adding in and to said chapter a new section to be known as Section 667X, relating to licenses, to read as follows: SEC. 667X. PAWNBROKERS. SPECIAL CLASSIFICATION. For the purpose of this ordinance a pawnbroker is hereby de- fined to be any person who loans or advances money on the se- curity of pledges of bills, notes or other evidences of debt or choses in action exclusively, and on which loans or ad- vances the pledgor shall have the right to redeem any pledge 40 within a period not to exceed six months from the date of any 40 forfeiture at no greater advance than five percent per month on sums up to and including $50.00 and three percent per month on sums in excess of $50.00. It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in the business of loaning money on the security of the pledge of bills, notes or other evidences of debt or choses in action as herein defined, unless such person shall first have procured from the License Assessor and Collector of Salt Lake City a license to conduct such business. Every person applying for a license as pawnbroker shall, before receiving such license, pay into the city treasury a license tax of one hundred 400.00) dollars per annun (no - such license -o be issued for b less period tarn six months), and shall, before receiving_ such license, execute and deliver a bond to the city in. the sum of one thousand (4ia.,000.0' ) dollars, eitl- corporate surety, conditioned for the faithful observance of all ordinances of the city respecting n- br okers. inr licensee under this ordinance shall deep a re- cord of all transactions `lade by him and shall, upon (..emand ay the Iudi.tor of dolt Lake City, offer for insiection all contracts, notes, and pled. cs received i.ved by him for the purpose of determining that said licensee is conformins' to the lams and ordinances of belt Lake City, provided, hoTevei , that the number of _inspections so made shall not exceed four .see year; and further provided that each. licensee shall, won receipt of said license, pay to the License .'ssessor and Collector of .;alt Lake City the sum of fifty dollars (tmi3O.30 per annum to defray the expense of inspection. Nothing herein cont,hned shall be construed to alter or modify the provisions of Section 66i of these ordinances re la.ting to pawnbrokers who loan or advance money on chattels.
