AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3691 of the Revised
Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, relating to licenses.
Be it ordained by the board of Commissioners of Salt
Lake City, Utah:
SECTION I. That Section 3691 of the Revised Ordinances
of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1944, relating to licenses, be and the
same is hereby amended to read 'as follows:
"SEC. 3691. SCAVENGERS. (a) It shall be unlawful for any
person to engage in the business of removing or hauling throuPn
the streets of Salt Lake City any garbage, market waste, trade
waste, night-soil, or the Contents of privies, vaults, water-
closets, cesspools or grease traps, without first securing a
permit from the board of health and obtaining a license so to
do.
(b) The license fee, which shall be paid before the is-
suance of any license, shall be as followsi
1. For the removing or hauling of night soil or
the contents of privies, vaults, cesspools or grease traps
the sum of Fifty ($50.00) Dollars per year for each vehicle
used.
Such licensed scavengers may be issued a key by
the Board of Health permitting the use of such city flushing
stations or dumps as may be designated for use by the City
Engineers office and the City Board of Health. Said key shall
remain the property of Salt Lake city at all times.
Licensed scavengers will be permitted to dump only
in such places as are designated by the City Engineer and the
Board of Health and shall be subject to such rules and regula-
tions as may be formulated 4ulating such dumping.

2. For the removing or hauling of garbage, market
waste, and similar refuse, Fifty ( 50.00) Dollars per year
for each vehicle used.
3. For the removing or hauling of trade waste or
similar refuse, Fifty ($50.00) Dollars per year for each
vehicle used.
(c) The license assessor and collector shall not issue
any license as provided for herein unless the applicant
therefor shall exhibit to said license assessor and collector
a permit duly issued by the Board of Health to such person
showing the approval of said Board of Health of the conveyance
or receptacle to-be,used in the transporting of such waste
material. -
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners,
it is necessary to the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants
of Salt Lake City that tnis ordinancen become effective immediately.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect .•on its
