AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 25-4-5, Of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, as amended, relating to officers and employees, position titles and classifications and salary ranges, and Section 25-4-6, of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, as amended, relating to salary schedules of officers and employees. Be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah: SECTION 1. That Section 25-4-5, of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, as amended, relating to officers and employees, position titles and classifications and salary ranges, be, and the same hereby is amended to read as follows: "Sec. 25-4-5. Position titles and classifications and salary ranges. (a) Non-civil service officers and employees. The non- civil service position titles and classifications, as numbered, and with the salary ranges, or rate ranges, as proposed and recom- mended and shown in 'Recommended Wage and Salary Administration Program for Salt Lake City Corporation Employees," prepared by the "Citizens' Review Board," at pages 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15 and 16, Revised May 31, 1967, a copy of which is on file in the office of the City Recorder, are hereby adopted and declared as and for the position titles and classifications and the salary ranges for all non-civil service officers and employees of Salt Lake City, effective July 1, 1967, said position titles being grouped under the following titles: 1. Clerical & Technical 2. Operating & Maintenance 3. Managerial & Professional "(b) Civil service position titles, classifications and salary ranges. The civil service position titles and classifications, as numbered, and with the salary ranges, as proposed and recom- mended and shown in "Recommended Wage and Salary Administration Program for Salt Lake City Corporation Employees," prepared by the "Citizens' Review Board" at pages, 5, 6, 7, 14, 15, 16 and 18, revised May 31, 1967, a copy of which is on file in the office of the City Recorder, are hereby adopted and declared as and for the position titles and classifications, and the salary ranges for all civil service positions in Salt Lake City, effective July 1, 1967, said position titles being grouped under the following heads: 1. Clerical & Technical 2. Managerial & Professional 40 -2 SECTION 2. That Section 25-4-6, of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, as amended, relating to salary schedules of officers and employees, be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows: "Sec. 25-4-6. Salary schedule adopted. All positions in civil service and non- civil service, individual will move to the step in the new class that is at least higher than his present salary. Where the next step would result in less than one-half a step higher, with a minimum of $12.00, then the individual will go to the next step higher. "(c) Merit increases. Employees who are hired into positions between January 1, and June 30, become eligible for their first merit increase beginning with the first pay period six months following the month in which they were hired. All other merit increases will be granted at the beginning of the next fiscal year, July 1st." SECTION 3. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners it is necessary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt Lake City, Utah, that this ordinance become effective immediately. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first publica- tion.
