AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Section 25-4-6 of the Revised Ordinances of
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1965, as amended by Bill No. 40 of 1967, passed
July 13, 1967, relating to salary schedules of officers and employees,
by adding thereto two new paragraphs (d) and (e) .
Be it ordained by the- Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City,
Utah:
SECTION 1. That Section 25-4-6 of the Revised Ordinances of Salt
Lake City, Utah, 1965, as amended by Bill No. 40 of 1967, passed July
13 , 1967, relating to salary schedules of officers and employees, be,
and the same hereby is, amended by adding thereto two new paragraphs
(d) and (e) to read as follows:
"(d) Proficiency pay. Personnel of the police department
who qualify as expert marksmen and personnel of the fire depart-
ment who successfully pass a special hydraulics test, shall each
receive $5.00 per month in addition to the regular salary provided
herein. The chief of police and chief of the fire department shall
each provide the necessary rules and regulations to properly
conduct the respective proficiency tests.
"(e) Uniform allowance. In addition to the salaries herein
provided for the members of the fire department, police department
and health department, each officer and employee of said depart-
ments, who is required to wear a uniform shall receive the sum of
$15.00 per month as a uniform allowance, provided, however, that
the personnel of the police department required to wear a uniform
and who are assigned to duty in the K-9 Corps, the motorcycle
patrol and plainclothesmen detail shall receive an additional
uniform allowance of $20.00 per month, a total of $35.00 per month,
in view of the extra hazards to uniform involved in such assignment."
SECTION 2. In the opinion of the Board of Commissioners it is neces-
sary to the peace, health and welfare of the inhabitants of Salt Lake
City that this ordinance become effective immediately.

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its first
publication.
Passed by the Board of Commissioners of Salt Lake City, Utah,
this 1st day of August , 1967.
